Croft Off to Wigan? Tue 15th Jan 2002 23:04
TWTD has learnt that Gary Croft is the latest player to become a loan target for a lower division side. We're told that Croft, recently rumoured to be on his way back to Grimsby, is being targeted by Second Division Wigan Athletic who have a number of defenders unavailable at the present time.

With Middlesbrough beating Wimbledon 2-0 this evening Town's FA Cup fourth round tie with Manchester City will be played on Sunday 27th January, kick-off 7pm.

Marcus Stewart has been withdrawn from the Town squad for tomorrow's reserve game at Portman Road against Charlton.

Jim Magilton and Alun Armstrong missed training at Town today, Armstrong with a neck injury while Magilton has a hamstring problem. Mark Venus is also undergoing treatment for a painful knee problem.

Town's game with Fulham could move back one day to Wednesday January 30th. The game is currently scheduled for the Tuesday, but if the Man City game takes place on the Sunday (see previous stories) then it will move.

Finidi George and the rest of the Nigerian squad have arrived in Mali ahead of the African Nations' Cup. Only Arsenal's Kanu has failed to join the squad, due to an injury suffered in ther match with Liverpool at the weekend. Benedict Akwuegbu is on stand-by to replace him.

George Burley has praised Italian keeper Matteo Sereni for the way he took being dropped at the weekend. The Town manager feels the Italian is suffering a bit after a tough first half of the season.
