So SAF holds the record for the most trophies won. He is a great manager as much as I hate Man Utd. But here's my question would SAF have won that many trophies if the Premiership hadn't killed off competition.
Lets face it back in 1981 there were 24 teams in the old first division of which 22 had a realistic chance of winning it. Liverpool were the favourites to win that year but in the end it came down to Us and Aston Villa. Today in the Premiership there is only four teams that stand any kind of chance. So if it was still set up as the old first division would SAF have won anywhere near the ne'er of trophies he did?
