Hearts Pair Linked
Tue 10th Nov 2009 09:10

Town are keeping an eye on Hearts pair Lee Wallace and Jose Goncalves, according to a tabloid report this morning. Manager Roy Keane is said have sent scouts to Scotland on a regular basis this season and is ready to offer £2 million for left-back Wallace in January.

Wallace, 22, came through the youth system at Hearts, making his senior debut in 2004. The Edinburgh-born defender won his first full Scotland cap in October, having previously played at U19, U20 and U21 levels. He is contracted to Hearts until 2012.

In 2006 Wallace was fined £1,500 for possessing an airgun and earlier this year was fined £1,100 after a bust-up with bouncers outside a nightclub.

Goncalves, 24, plays either at left-back or centre-half and is out of contract next summer. The Blues are said to be considering offering the former Portuguese U21 international a pre-contract agreement in January ahead of a Bosman move next summer.

The Lisbon-born defender previously played for Swiss sides Basel, Winterthur and Thun, having been brought up in Switzerland, in Italy with Venezia, in Lithuania with Kaunas and last season was on loan at Nuremberg in Germany.

The report also again claims that Town have had a bid turned down by Stoke for defensive pair Leon Cort and Danny Higginbotham, something which Roy Keane and Tony Pulis have both denied.

Meanwhile, Town’s reserves are in action against Haverhill Rovers in the quarter-finals of the LB Group Suffolk Premier Cup at Portman Road this evening (KO 7.45pm).

@CGS .... "GET DARREN FERGUSON NOW"??!?

You are joking, right? You (and the other anti-Keanites) wanted Keano sacked because we were bottom, yet you now want the man who actually WAS sacked because his club are bottom? Random.

Fine, it may be your opinion, but the words "frying pan", "fire", and "jump" come to mind, lol.

Missed the banter with you - its been a while!

CGS - Were you there saturday?? don't think so which is why i cant believe you have the audacity to say delaney isnt a good centre back, granted he hasnt been fantastic at LB but sat and previously he looked solid.

I'm over your armchair negative comments, Go and support UTD and post dross on their messageboards.

Dobs is right with his comment about getting another manager who has been sacked because his team are bottom!!!"GET DARREN FERGUSON NOW" what a joke of a statement

"If you have nothing good to say, then don't say anything at all".

Yes its been a while, and I knew someone would question that but hear me out.

He got Peterboroug promoted in consecutive seasons with little money. When starting in the championship he had no money, and honestly was prob expected to be bottom! To get a club p-romoted two seasons running shows how well he can gel a group of players! They may not be the most talented bunch but they were promoted and played well together. He won 50% of his games according to sky sports. Wer have some excellent players at ipswich (some are some of the best in this league leadbitter, rosenior, d.wright) and all they need, I think is for someone to come in and install a bit of unity. I dont think darren ferguson would come in and start slaggin of players (kaene style)! He would give therm confidence.

Also as aI have said befor ewe wuold start winning if keane was sacked and I was installed as manager! As soon as Keane leaves the players will give alot more!

I have seen both of these players play and think Wallace would be an excellant addition, better than anything we alrady have.
Not too sure what Goncalves would add though.

I think if we offer the 2 million that is being suggested then we shouldnt have any problems getting Wallace, hearts chairman is happy to take any money he can get his hands on.

Whilst I am shocked at the disgraceful decision to sack Fergie jr. - he is not what we need at our club to lead us out of the mire..we need experience and enthusiasm, neither of which "Keano" seems to possess.

& Q....why have we signed another goalie?..does Roy intend rotating them as often as his strikers?

& regards to the 2 Hearts players - it strikes me that Keane's answer to the fact that he can't get the best out of his current squad of players (he did this at sunderland too) is to go and buy some more....and then some more.....and then some more.............etc etc.

CGS - Sometimes I think you have a point, although I definately dont want Keano sacked. What you say about Darren Ferguson is just utter rubbish. If he were appointed you would be the first on here slagging him off after his first loss. Then you would probably be calling for Dave Basset or Peter Reid.

Is this so we can drop Wright again ?
And Delaney has played ok at centre back but is not as good as Macauley and Smith or Wood who is supposed to be coming IMO and has only played at centre back due to injuries so is an expensive squad player signing at best ?

Keanoitfc change your car before you call me a mug!

Feguson would do a much better job than Keane! He would not be my first choice but my hatred for keane is such that most people I would want instead of him!
Delaney is crap is not good enough at left back, centre back - I wouldnt even want him on the bench! for thos who say he is a great palyer, it makes sense your happy with us being in the relegation, happy for keane to stay and ruin us even more and happy to have a waster like this at centre back!

CGS You say that Leadbitter, Rosenior and D Wright are some of the best in this league but are always saying RK is clueless. Well RK signed 2 of those players didn't he? We are now 5 games unbeaten (ok 4 draws) but we are starting to head in the right direction so get of RK's back.
