Fifties Town Keeper Dies Wednesday, 20th Jan 2010 16:54
Former Town keeper Jack Parry has died at the age of 86. Parry made 154 appearances for the Blues between 1951 and 1955.
The Welshman joined Town from Swansea for £750 in August 1951 and left for Chelmsford City in July 1955. The Pontardawe-born keeper won a single Wales cap while with Swansea.
Parry, married to the late Mary with three daughters and several grandchildren, was a bricklayer both before and after his footballing career. In his later years he lived in London and then Chelmsford.

A sad story :-( I wonder did he go to war, and if he did, did catching cannon balls help in his subsequent career catching those monstrous cow gut spheres they called footballs in that distant yesteryear. Condolences to his family, his friends, his fans... Phil | | |
