Lazio to Finally Play Friendly This Summer?
Lazio to Finally Play Friendly This Summer?
Friday, 4th Jun 2010 09:59

Italian reports suggest Lazio may finally play the second friendly they owe the Blues as part of Matteo Sereni’s 2003 transfer later this summer. The Italian goalkeeper, now with Torino, left the Blues for the Rome club at the height of the club’s financial problems for nothing other than the promise of two Portman Road friendlies.

The first of those games was played in 2006 with the Italian side winning 2-0, but the second match is still outstanding.

Various Italian media sources are reporting that Lazio will finally return to Suffolk to fulfil that commitment this summer.

However, the date on which they claim the game will be played, July 31st, is the day on which the West Ham friendly has been set with Town having no plans to move that match, so fans of the Biancocelesti may have to wait even longer to see them at Portman Road for a second time.

The Blues are likely to make further announcements regarding pre-season matches next week with no tour yet having been confirmed. Town, who start pre-season training on June 28th, are also looking to repeat last year’s training camp in Portugal, but probably not the two-day visit to Colchester barracks.

Although Lazio are nothing special now, I'd rather that be the pre season highlight and not west ham

Sereni - best remembered for his pastel pink suede shoes and being 'too tired' to play a 90 minutes match.

Shared a lift with Sereni and his Italian mate in the players hotel in Milan after our 4 nil defeat to Inter. They were gabbling on in Italian and the only word I recognised was "disastro"!

I thought it was Alun Armstrong that scored the header at PR and Marcus Stewart scored the PK at the San Siro.

Indeed - 4 ONE. Sorry. I did forget the pen (which incidentally I replayed to Armstrong on my digi cam in the bar on the same night! Nice bloke he was.)

Wadzilla: No - Stewart never played in Italy, after his jaw-breaking experience. We did however meet him in the foyer and he showed us his wired up gob!

How did Stewart get the jaw-break? Was it a rumoured fight for getting together with one of his team-mates girlfriends (ala Terry) ?

That was the worst thing that happened that season, Stewarts injury. We needed him in Milan.

Re Stewart injury. Official story, if I remember correctly, was a training ground injury after Counago kicked him in the face. Phrasing this carefully, with libel laws in mind. I think there were rumours that he was sleeping with Reuser and/or Holland's wife and they lumped him when they found out. Having met Holland's wife a few times, I doubt it was anything to do with her. Don't think we'll ever know for sure.

By your logic, what business is it of yours what she looks like? If you read the previous posts, the discussion had moved on to Stewart's injury and the rumours behind it. As it happens, Holland's wife is is very attractive. Body language between the two shows how close they are, which is why I doubt she was playing away with anyone.
Next time, try reading through the posts rather than just the last one - things make more sense that way.
