This is going to be a tough start to the season. If we start well and get some good results against these teams, then I feel we're in for a good season. If we stutter and start similar to last season, then it's gonna be another long season...
runaround added 09:13 - Jun 17
Tough start but in some ways its better to get some harder games in early before teams get into their stride too much. I'm also pleased that Palace away is on a Saturday for a change!

'Boro, Exeter, Portsmouth Away in the first few Weeks -- Ouch! Some miles there [unless you live in the SW like myself !] The 'Boro game will be a non starter for me but I'm sure the faithful will be there! Get a good start and we will be in with a very good chance. . . Keano, get the right players in, Please! COYB . . .

Hope Town will be well prepared this time. That couldnt really be a tougher start. Think the Boro game is a crucial one and could have large bearing on how the next 7 games go. Come on you blue boys!

The away games at the start AND end may be mitigated by a home match on Boxing Day - I think they take that into account when the fixtures are drawn up. May be wrong though, lol.

Yeah great, but when are we gonna start buying some new players to replace the one's Roy doesn't like?
IpswichElvis added 12:34 - Jun 17
I don't see Keano working any more of his magic than he did last season. It's gonna be a long one lads until our messiah finally gets the boot. Probably after our defeat at Norwich !!!

everyone saying its tough start , what would have been an easy start ? after last season its hard to look at the fixtures and be confident of winning.I just pray we get off to a better start than last year .Its no good saying this or that team are good or have been in prem ,we need to be better ,if we are going to go up . C O Y B
dobbie73 added 16:32 - Jun 17
Dirtydingus - I think the one thing that last season showed us was that (West Brom, Newcastle, and Forest apart), everyone could beat everyone else, and that resulted in some odd positions for some teams. Who'd have predicted Blackpool going up, or Middlesbrough finishing midtable, or Palace only surviving on the last day? Apart from the top 3, I think it was a pretty flat Champo last season, with not that many points separating the middle 18 or so teams! I think it could be much the same this year - I really don't think any of the relegated 3 will do much, so it could be any of 20 teams fighting FOR promotion, but equally fighting AGAINST relegation. Could be a squeaky bum season for a lot of teams, for all sorts of reasons. But you are right - we need to be better, we need to hit the ground running. Its gonna be a long tough season, and if we are going to challege at the top, we need to be able to beat anyone and everyone, or at the very least not lose! COYB!!!
