Palace Offer Derry New Deal
Palace Offer Derry New Deal
Tuesday, 22nd Jun 2010 08:52

Crystal Palace have offered skipper Shaun Derry a new contract in the wake of their recent takeover, according to a report this morning. Yesterday, Town were reported to be launching a late move to scupper free agent Derry’s proposed switch to QPR.

Former Blues boss George Burley, who took over as Eagles manager last week, is said to be keen to keep the 32-year-old at Selhurst Park, although Palace may not be able to compete with Town and QPR on wages.

Meanwhile, Blues striker Kevin Lisbie says more than 50 agents have contacted him during the summer regarding his availability.

The 31-year-old, who has a year left on his Town contract, says he expects to leave Portman Road this summer, having spent last season on loan with former club Colchester United.

Lisbie, who is yet to be contacted by the Blues regarding pre-season training, says he hopes to find a Championship club: “Beggars can’t be choosers, but I’d like to play for another club in the Championship.

“And I would like to get myself sorted out soon, because I’d like to do a proper pre-season at a club. But I can’t see me being welcomed back by Ipswich. I think the manager’s view of me is more personal than a purely football thing.”

Newly-promoted Millwall have previously revealed their interest and could well be the frontrunners for his signature.

Stop bleating Lisbie. I don't think I have ever actually wished a Town player to leave, but I make an exception for him.

Cearly Burley and Warnock don't read the news comments on TWTD. If they did surely they'd realise that, as so many of you pointed out yesterday, Derry is a completely rubbish has-been with nothing to offer.

Or maybe you all are just desperate to criticise Keane at any opportunity, regardless of whether that criticism has any merit whatsoever.

Hmmm...

I thought I disliked Thatcher but at least he didn't rant like this. I'm sure Lisbie will get an 'interesting' reception if he ever plays against Town

Maybe if Lisbie kept his mouth shut and remained professional he WOULD be welcomed back to the club. He really doesn't do himself any favours

Excellent news that another club wants Lisbie! Sell sell sell! Perhaps Jim's worst signing for the club.

However, when are we going to SIGN a player? Not long until 7 August.

I dont see whats wrong with what lisbies said.

First of all keane insisted he moved closer to the club...when lisbie signed that wasn't a condition and keane had every right then to say fine, but I'll look to sell you.
However it does seem like keane is behaving like a child, not informing him of pre season schedules, not talking to him at all since he went out on loan. Keane may want lisbie out, but behave with some degree of decency and dignity. What Lisbie says rings true, keane is dealing with this like its a personal issue. If roy wants to show he can communicate and manage players this hardly suggests he's changed since a bit.

Monkey_Blue - from memory I don't think Roy is upset about Lisbie not moving closer to the club. I seem to recall when Lisbie joined Colchester he opened his mouth and started saying things like 'I don't want to play for Ipswich again' and also slated Roy publicly by saying 'he didn't even see me play - didn't give me a chance' - despite Lisbie playing in Roy's first TWO games in charge. Rightly in my opinion Roy therefore decided to wash his hands of this mouthy player. Lisbie has done himself no favours at all. In my opinion he is to blame for his own situation.

I think lisbie clearly mean't competitive games and even if he didn't a couple of games is not really enough to form an opinion of a player to the point where keane apparently told him he would never play for him again...so hardly suprising lisbie wasn't happy. If roy wants to be a hypocryte then fine, but he was none to worried about slagging off his own team mates, fans and the manager in his playing days. I just think as manager you need to understand that it means managing players even those you dont rate. Roy seems to think that it was his right as a player to spout off, but no one elses. He needs to be bigger than petty arguments For the sake of the club. no one will pay much for lisbie if they know the manager is depserate to get rid...100k pays a young pros wages for a year

Whatever people think of Lisbie's abilities (and I think he's being harshly remembered) it's disgusting that the club have pushed him out on loan, and then ignored him. It stinks, but it seems to be common with the new look ITFC. It sounds like he'll find out about his future in the papers before we bnother to tell him. Not good enough Town

If Lisbie is that keen to leave us why doesn't the useless little prat buy himself out of his contract - instead of taking his wages from a club he doesn't want to play for!!!!!!

Blanford.... Why should he? He signed a contract and unless he refuses to play when picked he has done nothing wrong. Lisbie is only unhappy because he has been told he's not wanted. Keane has made it impossible for him to come and play for the club. Whether you think he's not good enough is neither here nor there. Would you do what you suggest lisbie does...of course you wouldn't. I dont particulalrly rate him as a player but the club/managers behaviour is not that of a decent club, something we used to be.

jas0999 i too am a bit concerened about the transfer situation, before we know it ,it will be a new season,we need to get the players in and settled pre season ! not dredge around the bottom of the barrel after we have started the new campaign. We are likely to be bumbling along again with the old excuse '' we are building'' WE SHOULD HAVE FINISHED THE MAIN BUILDING LAST YEAR, this year we should just be putting an extension on LETS GET IT ON ! Get rid of both keane and Lisbo, they are both clowns who a club like ipswich don't want.

I wouldgive keane moreenthusiastic backing if evans told him no more cash....you have a large squad, get on and manage them. Keane certainly would learn something if he didnt have a cheque book to hammer. blackpool had far less talent and resources, but they have a manager, we don't we have an ex player who picks the team and buys players
