Palace Confirm Failed Bid for Town Duo
Monday, 31st Jan 2011 21:38

Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish has confirmed that his club made a joint £800,000 offer for Town duo David Norris and Damien Delaney.

Parish said: “We bid £800,000 for Norris and Delaney but Ipswich said no.”

The Eagles have signed left-back Dean Moxey from Town's Tuesday opponents Derby.

No further moves in or out are expected at Portman Road this evening, while former Town loanee Giovani Dos Santos has joined Racing Santander from Spurs on another loan spell.

That offer is pure filth. How they have the balls to offer such a small amount is beyond me.

It is low, but I guess with them both being out of contract in the summer clubs will try!!!!

looks like Norris won't be off to Pompey either. By the look of it they are struggling to pay a £1million CVA payment this month.

It might be a laughable amount smallridge, but it is significantly more than Portsmouth offered for Norris and both these two players can sign for any club after today and leave at the end of the season for nothing, with a nice signing-on fee each, so perhaps Town might have been wise to at least consider it or even take it!

I was kind of hoping Clegg was right for a change and that both of them wanted to stay at the club. But who knows what to think when Cotterill says Norris wants to leave.

basicly Norris wants to stay but wants us to pay what he can get elsewhere. He's covering all bases

I think Chucks facial expression says it all.

They will likely leave in the summer, when the transfer fees they may have commanded can go straight to them as part of their deals. That goes for macca, delaney and chuck.

I dont agree that we should have taken the money because they can go for free in the summer, its no good having 800k in our back pocket if we are playing league 1 football next season, we need to keep our better players for now and try and sort new contracts out over the next few weeks, if they go they go but atleast we'll have a better chance of staying in this division

Wow, Racing Santander have taken Geo on loan. There'll be a few regulars here who'll have harboured fanciful ideas of him coming back here to his favourite club.

Absolute disgrace that offer, both very good players at this level, please Clegg, sign them both up on long term deals along with Macca and co and lets move forward!

Whats the point of taking 800,000 for two of our first team players
and selling them to a team just below us in the league?
We would prob get paid the money over two/ three years.
they will be free to go at the end of the season but so will lot's of other (better) players at other teams. If it is true that they want to stay what's the problem?

As for this 21 players out of contract at the end of the season, can we stop going on about it please !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how many do we want to keep anyway?
Quinn? even Bullard has played more games than him this season
sure we should have sorted out the contracts for Mc and Norris but maybe they just did not want to sign up

They got Garvan for very little,- it was worth a punt on their part.
Still think we are nowhere near strong enough....
ClassyIpswichLass- Dos Santos would have been welcomed back with open arms!
Be interesting to see how we match up to Derby....

Should have got Palace to add David Wright to the deal, then we'd have had a decent right back. We've plenty of cover for Delaney with Smith and O'Dea, & also for Norris with more midfielders than I can be bothered to name! Norris & Delaney will be off in the summer for free anyway.
