Jewell: Town Eyeing Scottish Market But Not Necessarily Conway

Boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that the Blues have had scouts watching Dundee United but says winger Craig Conway wasn’t necessarily the target. Conway was linked with the Blues as well as SPL giants Rangers by the Scottish press last week.

Jewell said: “What’s probably happened there is that we’re watching games up in Scotland.

"We’ve watched Dundee United a couple of times and Motherwell as well, and people have put two and two together. We are trying to spread the net to see what’s about.”

Never watch the games up here, so can't comment on Conway. We have an Ipswich scout who lives in our small village [ given to believe he sorted out the Colin Healey loan to Falkirk. ] The net is spreading.

Not been in my neck of the woods, then again, it's not surprising really. Surely we could look at building a few links with Inverness Caley Thistle, with Terry Butcher in charge there (and maybe play a pre-season friendly there?)

Blackpool signed Charlie Adam for 500k from Scotland (Rangers I think), what a signing that turned out to be. There is quality in Scotland, I'm glad Jewell is looking there.

Why don't we just publish a list of the players we are "eyeing", being linked with, or are having scouts watched. This will achieve the objectives of increasing competion for the player and increasing the transfer fee. Ultimately, we'll sign fewer players tham we might have done and payed more money for them. It's time for ITFC to stop bradcasting who they fancy and get their act together and go and do some deals.
