Keane Selling Suffolk Home
Keane Selling Suffolk Home
Monday, 20th Jun 2011 00:06

Former Town boss Roy Keane looks to be on his way out of Suffolk having put his house in Woodbridge up for sale for £3.5 million. The Blues sacked the former Manchester United skipper after 20 turbulent months in charge in January.

The Irishman moved into the house, which he bought for £2 million in February 2010, last season having spent a significant sum and several months having it refurbished. While waiting for the work to be completed the ex-midfielder and his family rented a property in Aldeburgh.

Keane putting his house on the market will lead to speculation that he has another management position lined up — with rumours linking him with Watford in the last few days - but speaking to a Cork radio station last month the 39-year-old said he was in no hurry to get a new job: “Not today. I’ve been out for a couple of months and I’m enjoying my bit of time off. Part of my problem is that when I’m involved, I’m involved, there are no half measures.

“I think I have to step back, recharge the batteries, take stock and see what’s around the corner. Who knows? If I’m out of the game for another six months or six years, so be it. It would have to be the right club.”

Keane’s Cheshire home is still unsold despite having been up for sale for some while at £7.5 million - a reduction of £2 million from its initial list price - which might suggest the possibility of a move back to the North-West.

£3.5m for that? you're having a laugh - ugly from the outside, dark and depressing inside, and only 3.5 acres - the river view definitely wouldn't compensate. You can buy 10 x more attractive, modernised, just as big farmhouses with 10 acres for £1m in Yorkshire!

I guess Clegg must be trying to sell his North-West home.

I love this: "I think I have to step back, recharge the batteries, take stock and see what's around the corner. "

I imagine he's also keeping his cards to himself for now while such a decision is on the back burner. He'll have several irons in the fire and won't want to count his chickens until the fat lady sings.

I hope that he left the house in better shape than he did my beloved team?

I reckon this used to belong to Alex Ferguson. He bought it in the early stages of construction, knowing it had potential. He kept an eye on the rest of the build, still hoping this was going to be the house of his dreams, unfortunately he had misread the plans and far from being the luxury pad with top of the range tech and all mod cons, it had, to his horror, turned out to be a tiny, one bed, mid-terrace with no garden or parking space, totally useless. All he could do was rent it out to the less fortunate. Several people signed a short term lease, but even these lesser mortals could see this house was just not good enough. Ferguson thought he was going to have to just abandon this embarrassing property and cut his losses. For week's he racked his brain thinking of how he could offload this pile. Then it suddenly dawned on him, not only could he get rid of the house, but he could actually sell it for ten times it's true value. As the phone rang, he was desperately trying not to wet himself with laughter. Composing himself as his call was answered, in his best business voice he said "Hello Keano, my old mate........

Clegg's fault.

Well if he has to step back and recharge the batteries after 20 months in a job he's clearly incapable of holding a job long term. Heaven help him if he gets a job that he manages to stick for 5-6 years!

The builders said he kept buying over priced materials then kept chopping and changing how he wanted things arranged and finally just went into a sulk and wanted everything painted black.
If he'd been there 6 months longer he would have build a 50 foot high wall int he garden to block the view.

Surely if you're asking for £3.5m for a house, you'd replace the swimming pool liner yourself if you knew it needed doing?!??

Saw his cheshire house on the internet, it is a far better place than his place in woodbridge, mind you it should be for a price of 7.5 mill. it must be nice to own 2 houses at a total price of 11mill. what say you ??
