Murphy Set for QPR
Murphy Set for QPR
Tuesday, 5th Jul 2011 23:03

TWTD understands that former Town keeper Brian Murphy is set to join QPR having left Portman Road at the end of last season. Murphy has been weighing up whether to sign for Neil Warnock’s newly promoted Premier League club since the end of last season.

The 28-year-old Irishman opted against signing a new one-year contract on reduced terms at Portman Road prior to the final game of the season at Leicester.

Former Bohemians man Murphy is likely to be the third choice keeper at Loftus Road behind Paddy Kenny and Radek Cerny.

Average keeper but probably the most consistant we had & really coulda staked a claim for no.1 ere, fulop can be brilliant ie cardiff away or shocking, lee-barrett has his moments where he looks championship quality but is just not good enough for first choice for a side pushing for promotion, so well done brian only football you'll get is on the training ground, great move

couldn't have put it better!!!

I struggle to think of a good keane signing, other than getting connor to sign a new contract.

So sitting on the bench in the prem is getting first team football as has been said before. I would also think that when paddy kennys days are numbered they will get a replacement rather that upgrade him to number one. Oh well he will be on decent money I'm sure!

He was 3rd choice here with ALB being chosen ahead.

So 3rd choice for QPR and better wages is a step up.

Disappointed to lose Murphy - mainly as PJ has said he will only have two keepers now and for me ALB is a liability - a division 1 keeper at best. Offering Murphy reduced terms is insulting really - before slating him, how many people would honestly accept reduced terms in their current jobs, when they could get a job elsewhere for more money? Didn't think so.
