Jewell Pleased With First Half Display
Jewell Pleased With First Half Display

Town boss Paul Jewell was pleased with his side’s first half display in their 3-1 victory at Den Bosch, Tommy Smith, Jason Scotland and Tamas Priskin scoring the goals. The Blues manager felt the performance drifted in what was a scrappier second 45 minutes.

Jewell said: “I thought in the first half we played well, we played some good stuff. In the second half we made a few changes and were always going to lose that rhythm.

“It’s always nice to win games, but it’s another step along on pre-season, it’s no big deal what the score is, although we want to win."

The Liverpudlian felt his side might have been further in front at the break: “We created a few chances and it probably could have been four or five at half-time.

“In the second half we tired a little bit and we made a few changes, which disrupted our rhythm and we were never quite the same and gave a bad goal away. It was just a bit scrappy in the second half, but it’s all about fitness.”

Town owner and chairman Marcus Evans was amongst those watching the Blues complete their two-game Dutch tour.

Good to see a couple of wins with Priskin, Scotland & Chopra all scoring and appearing to play well. This trip has given PJ a chance to see the players in action and gives him an idea of where he needs to strengthen. Looking forward to seeing a few more additions - Nigel Reo Coker, Jason Koumas, Jonathan Spector & Matt Derbyshire all available on free transfers and I think they all would be good acquisitions provided their wages were sensible. Need another centre back but cannot think of a suitable signing - any ideas?

Good to see ME showing an interest in watching the team. Now he needs to work with PJ and Clegg to ensure another 4 players are added to the squad - sooner rather than later.
