Griffiths Extends Plymouth Loan
Griffiths Extends Plymouth Loan
Monday, 3rd Oct 2011 14:39

Midfielder Jamie Griffiths has extended his loan spell at Plymouth into a second month. The 19-year-old has so far made two starts and three sub appearances for the Pilgrims.

The Great Cornard-based youngster is delighted to be remaining in the South-West, tweeting: "Extended my loan at Plymouth! Can't wait for Saturday's game, time to start pushing up the table."

Last week, Blues boss Paul Jewell revealed that Town are paying all Griffiths’s wages while he is with Argyle and that the player is enjoying his time in League Two: “We’re paying his wages. We are officially now a registered charity, but you better not tell Marcus Evans that!”

“I know Jamie spoke to one of the lads and he’s loving the fact that he’s involved in the preparation of matches with the first team.

“It’s a huge learning experience for the kids. I did the same thing when I went to Wigan. I was cocooned at Liverpool thinking that things are done a certain way, but they aren’t.

“The way the preparation is done, the travelling, mentally it’s tiring. It’s all good stuff for them and I want them to come back wanting to do that every week.

“And if they can’t do that here, I want to give them an insight of what it’s like to do it at another club.”

Pilgrims caretaker-manager Carl Fletcher says he likes Griffiths's approach to the game: "Jamie's attitude since he's been here has been great and he's worked hard every day.

"He is a good person to have around the place and hopefully he can push for a position in the starting line-up."

Griffiths, whose one Town appearance came as a late sub in the Carling Cup tie against Northampton last season, will remain at Home Park until November 5th.

Meanwhile, we understand Ridgeons League Premier Division side Kirkley & Pakefield watched academy central defender Nicolay Schrøder with a view to taking the Norwegian on loan during the U18s' 5-2 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Schrøder was playing his first competitive game in a year against the Eagles having suffered with tendinitis.

Elsewhere, Austrian defender Andreas Dober's agent has said he's in talks with clubs regarding his the ex-Rapid Vienna man moving to the UK.

Last month, the Blues, Watford and Nottingham Forest were linked with the 25-year-old but with Paul Jewell subsequently dismissing the reports: “I don’t know who he is!”

Registered Charity.. lmao... Yet another famous quote from PJ.... Love his banter. All that aside.. Mr Jewell i've had faith in u since u landed at Portman rd... N really looks like the team is starting 2 take shape. Such a shame that we got a 2 week break, just as we're starting 2 make other teams dread the prospect of either a visit to, or a visit from da Tractor boys..... I predict play offs at least, this season. COYB

We should send a few more down there, even if we are paying the wages
What about Priskin so he can see what real life is all about
Ronan Murry, Tommy Smith and the young fullback Wright better than these odd games they play then they would be ready for the first team when they come back

Agreed rosseden, send Ronan out to lower leagues, he needs games and hopefully score on a regular basis...with chopra, scotland, duke, murphy (and JET), he's way down the pecking order...

Maybe Plymouth would like Priskin for nothing, because no other club will pay his wages.
