Monday, 29th Apr 2002 16:12

Former Town defender Tony Humes has been appointed Academy Coach and Co-ordinator for Town's Development Centres. He takes over from Peter Trevivian who is moving to Watford to be their Academy Director.

Humes left Town after a string of injuries in 1992 having made 130 appearances, scoring 11 goals. He moved to Wrexham where he played 246 times, scoring ten goals before retiring in 2000.

After that he coached their reserves and ran their Academy for a year before moving back to Suffolk where he was working as a car salesman.

Town's Academy Director Bryan Klug told the club site: "Tony has had a lot of experience in youth development at Wrexham and with his knowledge of Ipswich Town Football Club I am sure he will be a great Academy Coach and Co-ordinator for Development Centres."
