The Next Three - Part Two
Written by Ipswichlove on Saturday, 3rd Jan 2015 01:11

Since the last time I wrote, Town have produced three very good performances and also three very good results giving us nine out of nine points.

I feel the win away at Griffin Park was a real sign to show everyone what we are all about this season, another brilliant positive was the away win! In previous seasons our away form has been a downfall, so it's especially pleasing when we get points on the road, away from the mighty Portman Road.

The next three

4th Jan Southampton (A) (FA Cup)

10th Jan Derby (H)

17th Jan Millwall (A)

Southampton (A)

I'm not sure what to think about this one. I would love to have an FA Cup run, as I always do. However, with are current league form I will honestly say, I am not overly bothered about this game.

Of course, I would love to knock out a Premier League club but as long as we give it are all, I will be happy. The only thing I would hate to happen is go one down and drop our heads and end up losing the game 4-0 or 5-0. That would be a disaster.

This will be a real test for whatever team Mick McCarthy will put out. Southampton are sitting nicely in the Premier League so this will show us what we actually are capable of and the quality of us compared to a biggish Premier league club. I do believe if us 5,500 travelling fans get behind the men in Blue, I wouldn't rule out an upset on the cards.

Derby (H)

Big game this one. Big game. Sitting one place below us, with two points less Derby will be right up for this game I'm sure. This will be a tough test against a very good Derby side. The difference between Bournemouth and Brentford compared to Derby is that Derby have been a real top Championship side for the last few years rather than just one year.

Derby have a strong team all round and are capable of beating every team in the Championship on their day. I would love it to be the same result as last year. We went one down and then Jonny Williams hit a lovely strike, and deep into stoppage time, the big man Christophe Berra came in with a last gasp header. It was brilliant, Portman Road was buzzing, a magical moment, some might say the best of last year, it was a special one.

Anyway that was last year, Derby are different this year. I'm sure Derby will be up there come the end of the season, and so should we if we carry on our excellent performances. I'm not sure about this one.

Hopefully we will have another massive crowd at Portman Road, to cheer the Blue Army on. I'm sure we can win this one! It will be tricky but so was Brentford and Middlesborugh but we got through them. I'm going 2-0 Town! I really think we will buzz against Derby, I really do.

Millwall (A)

Don't remind me about the trip to the Den last year. This year we are different, Millwall are just an average side, trying to escape relegation and just playing boring, rough, long ball football.

The one thing you can guarantee with Millwall, it will be tough, fierce and nasty. The Den is a horrible place to go and play. Millwall are a big unit who will be compact and in my opinion against a club like us, they will probably play for a point.

This is a game that we should win, especially in our current form. If we grab the first goal I think we should go on to win it. I'm going for 0-1. Although if we do go a goal behind, Millwall will defend and defend and make it really tough for us. Anyway I think we will go down to London and take all three points home back to East Anglia.

Well done Ipswichlove, great blog. You make some sound comments about Derby being different this year but so are we! Everytime we think 'this is a tricky game' we're usually right but seem to find something special.Playing our socks off we are imo.
