I went to Lincoln, but live in Yorkshire so won't be taking ME up on this.

If anyone wants my free travel voucher, PM me.

So the coach detoured to Yorkshire to pick you up?

That's excellent service

But he didn't... that was obviously whoever cut and paste to use part of it as an expanded caption quote...

If you read the article itself it says “Everybody at the Club is hurting. Mick; the players; the staff and of course, our fantastic fans,” Ian told the Club website.

That's all very well but what about the fans who didn't travel from Ipswich?

Of the 1100 I would guess the majority travelled from different areas.

How do they get a refund?

Yeah, obviously but should probably get stuff like this checked to avoid Partridge esque gaffs at a really sore time.

I was on number 1 - I think that made the problem worse, as these would have been mainly GC holders.

Their super-fan badges were being polished frequently.

I get that they're a convenient and hassle-free way of going to the game.... but a beer or two before is nice. Unfortunately, it took an hour to get from entering Lincoln to getting to the ground, not helped by the driver going the wrong way and getting stuck down a side-street.
Even when we approached the roundabout near the ground, I could sense he was going to go the wrong way. He duly did and once the police finally freed us from the side street, we then had to crawl all the way back to the roundabout and down the correct road before turning in to the ground's car park.

I know all that 'cos I was on coach 1 as well, sorry about that.

I phoned my Wife at about 7pm to say that we sitting down the end of a road seeing the stadium(and the Cathedral)and that they were trying to work out how we actually get to the ground.

It is not usually like that because we usually arrive at the grounds without hassle.

I do not like that driver too much anyway and you are right about some of the people on the coach although there were quite a few on there on Tuesday that are NOT normally on coach 1.

Got to go now 'cos I have to order my Preston match and coach ticket online.

EDIT-Preston sorted,coach 1.

The group at the front were as irritating as anything (including the steward) - think they're better than everyone else as they go to all / most games on the coaches and know the driver on first-name terms... and he laps it up.

And being sat on that sodding bridge on the side-street was painful. We could see the ground was nearby, I've no idea why they couldn't let us off and tell us where the coach would be after the game.

The one sensible thing they did was to go straight home without stopping.

At Newcastle a load of us did get off the coaches and walk/run because we were stuck in traffic about 40 minutes before kickoff and in sight of the stadium,I was wondering about the possibilities of doing the same at Lincoln.

I was sat near the front but I am not in that little group,I agree it gets annoying sometimes but I just switch off and watch the World go by.

Probably the same people who used to be on when I used Galloways back in the day.

Utter cretins.

We were at the back - reinstating the old tradition of the flag in the back window.

An irrational thing to get hung up on, but it annoys me that none of the coaches ever have a flag in the back window these days - back in the day, if your coach didn't have a flag, you were looked down on. (Illy will back me up on this!)

I disagree, but this seems to be the way of modern football fans these days.

I chose not to go for 3 reasons:

1. It was on TV
2. I didn't want to waste a half days annual leave
3. I thought it would be a terrible game.

Fair play to the ones that went, but it was their choice at the end of the day.

At 44 years of age I'm a modern football fan?

Yes, it was their choice, and I'm not DEMANDING anything on their behalf. Just thought it would be a good gesture in these exceptional circumstances.

I agree with your last sentence 100%. Loads of people on twitter were saying the fans that went Tuesday should get refund, as bad as it was, no they shouldn't.

No-one should... but it would help rebuild a few bridges.
