Part of what is wrong with today's world. Full of self gratifying, back slapping pricktards who spend their days writing absolute prize winning waffle to justify their bullshat existence. Recruitment consultants discussing hot air and marketing firms relaying long drawn-out and superfluous 'insight' to confirm to the world they really are experts in hot steaming cow sh#t.

Do I really have to play this game to on? Life was better before all this crap.

Rant over.

I've had a couple of tentative enquiries through LinkedIn and one serious one, but when they called me it turned out that they wanted someone much more junior.

The bit that really annoys me is the repeated attempts by salesmen to sell me stuff that I don't need (usually expensive software that duplicates what I do in Excel). One guy has contacted me at least three or four times, always starting his messages along the lines of 'I am excited to be working with this new company'.

ahhh, the old junior role, had that too. I've had messages from recruiters I've almost messaged back asking if they are trying to insult me in the past. 5+ years SEO experience on large, international brands at known and respected digital agencies and they think I'd be interested in an entry level account management role. Lolz NO.

I use it purely instead of keeping stacks of business cards. Rarely post anything or have had any form of business from it. Bit of a non event for millions on there really.

You'll be begging them for any job if JC ever gets near the levers of power. Within 5 years we would have a couple of million extra IT workers, all with European and US account experience under their belts.

I imagine it can feel like everyone else is gloating to make you feel bad. Particularly for you when you're in your 50s and all your old school friends have "MD at..." of "Head of..." as their job title and yours still says "Burger King cashier".

Do you look down on people working in places like burger king callis?

That surprises me a bit tbh.

One of the very best things you can do for your career is to have an up to date LinkedIn profile. The tools they are bringing to market for Recruiters will mean that great jobs will find you if your profile is good. You dont have to participate in any of the other garbage that goes on.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Why is that weird nut job Pickles going through this thread down arrowing my posts? Assume he works in recruitment? Poor soul.

Careful now, I called Flashy a nutjob the other day and was reprimanded by CIL. Apparently you cannot call other posters nutjobs. She raised no objection to fruitloop though.

You put others down for banter.

Bit cheap. Each to their own.

I'm sure no one reading this working in one of those places would find that condescending at all.

How many jokes along these lines are made all time?

A list of places I've worked and jobs I've done in my lifetime...

Dominos Pizza (full time for nearly 2 years).
Popeyes chicken and Anthony's Pizza on RAF Lakenheath.
Trolley Dolly on the Portsmouth to Cardiff train.
Washing dishes in multiple canteens, cafes and resturants via agencies.
Drilling holes in faulty wing mirror parts in a factory.
Checking pharmaceutical packaging for faults in a factory.
Checking dyed hides of leather for small imperfections and removing them with a scalpel in a car factory.
Putting drops of water onto contact lenses in a factory.
Worked in a Superdrug store stock room.

I think there's a big difference between this "banter" and the sort of banter I've called out, usually revolving around racism or directly personal stuff.

There was one on Lakenheath base, but it was for the American services folk.

Just did a Google search, looks like there are a handful around the Midlands and Manchester. If anyone comes across one I highly recommend it
