Horrible as these events are (assuming it was a terrorist outrage), they are the death-throes of Islamic State, striking out blindly as it is at the point of being eradicated in its heartland of Syria and Iraq. They will ultimately lose and civilised society will come through. |

No. People don't just do these things. They require outside inspiration, direction, instruction even. It's what turns an unstable, alienated person (often a youth) into a killer. Without the cause, they do not have the motivation.
