5km in 25.53.... 18:52 - Aug 21 with 2724 views | ITFC_Forever | Been running for just under 6 months now and first time I've got under 26 mins, so pretty pleased with that... was feeling knackered all day today and wasn't sure whether to bother tonight, glad I did! Even caught up and over-took someone on Belstead Rd, who looked like a proper runner and everything!

Hmmmm.... starting to consider it now.... Aren't they 9am on Saturdays though? Which is a pain as the girls have dancing then and Dad Taxis are required.

5km in 25.53.... on 19:09 - Aug 21 with 2675 views | mos | That's great! I think consistency with running is the key, trying to run regularly instead of being lazy. Went for a run today around the park and back home, approximately 2.5 miles, was very difficult though, looks like I need to run more!

Since we got back from holiday a couple of weeks ago, I've ran Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday, Monday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday, along with a game of 6-a-side on the second Tuesday, so running regularly is definitely helpful to improving.

Aiming to start averaging low 8 mins miles and get near 25 mins.... although I don't always do 5km, I'll often do 4 miles with the odd 10km thrown in.

At itfcjoe says, if you are doing sub-26 just minding your own business on the pavement then you will break 25 for sure once on a flat/tarmac parkrun course with several hundred competitors pushing you. Its not unusual for me to to do close to 26 on an evening jog, but I have gone below 23:30 at parkrun.

Must admit, seeing the other guy 50 yards ahead of me brought out the competitive streak in me, so I definitely stepped it up slightly to try and reel him in, and was pleasantly surprised to do so and go past him, so with a whole load of people to "compete" against, I can see why people improve their times in a Park Run.

I'll do 5k which I haven't done in about 2 and a half weeks. I'd be suprised if I beat that on my first run back tbh. That's a good time.

5km in 25.53.... on 20:40 - Aug 21 with 2496 views | Fist_Pump | It's addictive. I started out when I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in October 2014, ran my first parkrun in jan 15, my first half marathon in October 2015, then in august 16 I ran a 100k ultra marathon. Got three more ultras booked up. Several stone lighter and much happier.
5km in 25.53.... on 21:21 - Aug 21 with 2434 views | floridablue | Park Run events here just west of Disney World and i joined in my first this month and bloody well strained/tore my calf! Loads of Brits wearing their club vests from all over the UK! Run my first 5k around 10 years ago at Disney event in my 50s as a smoker/drinker, 30 mins plus and since then become a non smoker and at least once a month Florida event and down in the 24 mins. (my best 23 12) Any of you Brit runners considering a visit to the ' Land of the Mouse' take a look at events in the area. Some great age group medals and shirts as souvenirs.
