Would anyone disagree now with using the 750k to pay off MM and staff now?

If you're against Mick and the sale of KM, would that make it easier to swallow?

I think we need a change. I've been relatively pro-MM but this current stand off is bad for everyone, we're rudderless, lifeless and there's nothing on the horizon yet to inject any optimism.

Poll: Hypothetically, we have £1M for January. What would you rather?

Should be reinvested in improved pies (including a vegan option) and more bar staff.

Put the fans first.

If Mick is still here come May we stand to lose more through season ticket sales than it would cost to buy him out of his contract now.

Unfortunately, Evans has never really displayed the level of football intelligence to grasp this, as evidenced by the price risk last year and the 60-65 farce.

It's a perfect time to bring a new manager in. We won't go up, we won't go down and have some very high earners a new manager may not fancy out of contract in a few months that we could cash in on now while they still have value.

We need a young manager who can build a legacy, who can find lower league talent within our budget and play good football. Given that any such manager would be inexperienced at this level in all likeliness, the cushion of 6 months and little chance of going down would be ideal to make the right signings in the summer and really push on next year.

It's logical. But that's why Evans probably won't consider it sadly.

The only manager we would get now though is someone currently out of work.

With the possible exception of Clarke at Bristol Rovers, all the decent managers in the leagues below are fighting for promotion.

Plenty of managers have left for bigger clubs in the past when fighting for promotion.

If you're on £50,000 to £100,000 a year at Luton, Lincoln or Shrewsbury and Ipswich come calling offering £250,000, then 'finishing what you've started' is barely going to come into it.

These are blokes with families. If players with millions in the bank already and players like Murphy and Bialkowski, who would be millionaires within a couple of years, will move to increase their families long term security, you can bet a lower league manager is going to be seriously tempted when they can double or triple their wage.

In a word, yes.

I'm so disheartened with it all right now..

More bar staff over the age of 16 who know how to manage a busy bar, and some serious spit and polish for the North Stand roof. Give Alf and Bob a shine while we're at it.

I'd rather let MM see off his contract and keep the money for potential transfers for the next incoming manager, who hopefully would be Maurice Steijn

We might as well let MM get us safe first and let him go just as renewals are sent out. I very much doubt the new manager is going to be inspiring so might as well send renewals out while we're managerless and let fans convince themselves we're going to poach a top young manager from the lower leagues.

Anyway this won't happen. MM will leave at the end of the season and not a game earlier. We all know how Evans works.

Truly impaired.

The issue with that is nobody trusts him to make the right appointment.

You make perfect sense! Unfortunately the hierarchy at our club possess not a bit of sense between them.

I really don’t understand why people who hate MM are so inclined to believe changing the Manager will result in a miracle. The biggest issue is the lack of investment. Until we have a larger budget and can acquire better players we won’t improve...... and you want waste some of the little money we do have by paying off a Manager who’ll be gone in May anyway. Incredible

If a significant chunk of it isn't spent on cleaning the roof of the stands I am going to have to write a very strongly worded letter.

No - we shouldn’t pay him off. But an announcement must be made that he’s going in the Summer. Soon. Otherwise ST sales could be very very low.

Paying £750k to get rid of a manager we can let go for free in 4 months seems like a terrible idea for a club with our budget.
