It’s well known we can’t and won’t beat the top 8

In a 24 team league that leaves 16 teams

Beat 16 rubbish teams home and away gives 96 points, promotion in the bag.

We would be on target for that but for MK dons and oxford (based on this years likely top 8)

It leaves 15 teams as we can't play ourselves.

However, I've been thinking the same thing, which is why we can ill-afford to drop too many points against teams like Plymouth and Oxford. If we end up 'only getting 80-85 points from those teams and we end up in the play-offs playing the teams we can't beat!

I was assuming if we did that we would be one of the top 8

We're that sh1t we'd probably lose to ourselves.

Be organised, don’t try and play like Man City in this league.

Be organised, be consistent, with our individual quality in the more attacking areas (albeit injuries hit hard) it would get you out of this league.

Got to be more organised. Seen positive signs of it in the last 2 games.

I suppose you *could* describe '12 passes around the defence then lump it' as 'organised'..

Being organised is probably more an indication how you are without the ball rather than with it.

We’ve had a better shape in the last 2 games, certainly.

'Desperately hope the opposition don't score', again, *could* be describe as a prescribed strategy..

I would have thought we'd get some draws against the top teams along the way

Poll: If we could perm sign just one, which would it be?

Indeed. It is not strictly necessary to beat our rivals in order to win the division.

Howver, giving up on a third of the available points leaves us very little margin for error.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

16 rubbish teams? I think the rubbish teams would have something to say about that, on their day they can certainly turn the so called top teams over, it's football remember, crazy results happen..

Yesterday , Sunderland 0 Wigan 1

Plenty more of those this season..

To be fair we would still get 3 points that way. I would see a 0-0 draw as being a far more likely outcome. The only shot of the game coming after normal time.

There are a few problems with your plan.

One, we are not going to win every match against the "lesser" teams.

Two, if we did somehow go up the embarrassment of finishing a Championship season firmly rock bottom and without a single win terrify me.

We need a team and tactics that can compete with the likes of Sunderland, Portsmouth, Peterborough, Hull, Lincoln, et al.
