The most bizarre for me is MK Dons so far away in comparison to many but still local.

I will. Its a derby and much more fun than Norwich.

Norwich is our derby (although many more years in this league and Cambridge and Colchester my end up supplanting Norwich).

So why do you consider just one other county from East Anglia to be a Derby, surely if one is they all are?? Also its not determined by what we personally think just purely on geographical location, like I said MK Dons is the strangest but is still counted, I mean lets face it when we play MK Dons its hardly a derby atmosphere for us just another game.

This is what I mean its crazy we should not have to entertain that as a passing though but because they are in East Anglia we do. Maybe a for example 50 mile radius should be considered as a derby match zone instead, it would certainly make more sense. [Post edited 10 Nov 2021 15:31]

The other teams in the region just don't come on our radar. We have no history with them, and hopefully our present acquaintance with them is only temporary. Are you too young to remember the various Boxing Day fixtures?

I don't think Milton Keynes is in East Anglia anyway. It may feature on Anglia TV but Buckinghamshire is more South East England or South Midlands if there is such a thing.

Lol no where near being too young, I remember them well, those were the days!! But fixed_it is that a good argument or just us being very elitist?? And hopefully indeed on the temporary acquaintance.

On a slightly lower plane, but just as deluded as those Leeds fans that think they are rivals with Man U. Ipswich can just about compete with Cambridge in footballing terms at the moment, but give it a decade or so and Cambridge will be on a higher planet than Ipswich on the field as well as light years ahead off it Geography and economics cannot be denied in the 21st century - apart from by Brexiteers

Time was when Ipswich v Hull was a local derby. Always on Match of the Week and enthused about by Gerry Harrison - or was it Gerald Sinstadt - particularly when they had Chilton and Wagstaff up front.

Absolute nonsense. If there was another MK Dons situation and suddenly Bury St Edmunds had a team in our league that would be no more a derby to me than Accrington. A derby needs two things. Proximity and genuine rivalry. You can say what you like about our current situation but our head to head with Norwich is completely even at the moment as far as i'm aware. They are our rivals and they were still our rivals when they were in league one. I couldn't give a damn about Cambridge, Colchester, Peterborough or MK Dons. It's not a derby as there's no rivalry. It's like commentators saying Fulham/Chelsea is a derby. Geographically yes but it's not a true derby. Surprised you need this explaining really. Any Ipswich fan should just get it. Easy answer. If all the clubs were in the same league. On fixture day which one do you look for..... It wouldn't be ipswich v Cambridge.
