Forecasting the end of season 14:00 - Feb 21 with 1868 viewsPioneerBlue

There are 14 games to go ahead of the playoffs.

I’m speculating that we end on 85-88 points. If we do that we will have had decent season and over the 46 games we will have been only a few performances short of an automatic points position. 90 plus points looks a long way off for me at this stage but not impossible.

The play offs are a complete lottery. However I’m quite confident we will show up and that could be our route out of this league.

Lots of work between now and then but for anyone that can remember the last play offs it is a proper rollercoaster! Supporters will have to play their part.

Our next 3 fixtures are absolutely huge and a great chance build momentum/help players recapture form.

Tbh ALL the remaining games are “ huge” and must win, because we can afford to slip up at all. Whoever holds their form and nerve reaps the benefits . It’s as simple as that. This is going right down to the last game in my view.

I’d be surprised if we didn’t draw at least one of the games against bottom half teams.

Even at my most optimistic, I can't quite get us over the finishing line.

Wednesday have 9/15 games away. Not surprising as they seem to be at home every single week.

Also come the Play Offs we will have Luongo, Ball, Camara and TJJ back which would give us huge depth and some steel in the midfield.

Especially as we will already be promoted and on the beach where it's 5 a side usually.

I'm still forging the accounts to send Wednesday and Plymouth into admin. Don't tell anyone though.

Finding a way to win against teams in the top 6 has been a bit of an achilles heel for us. 2 draws against Sheff Wed, 1 draw and a defeat to Plymouth, home draws vs Barnsley and Bolton with the away games to come. Defeat away at Wycombe with the home game to come. It's only Derby who we've managed to beat in 8 attempts against the current top 7. Doesn't bode brilliantly, but despite that, I think we're capable of beating those sides on our day. I don't think any of those clubs would want to play us in the playoffs.

In fairness, I do have a root to 93 points using the League Calc but it is a very optimistic view of games we can win on paper but we all know what paper is worth!
