That what I was saying, in essence. Squads were smaller back then, with only one substitute, so it seems weird that talent like that would be left out in this day and age. Many who saw him regularly believe he is our best midfielder of all time.


he was up there with the best - wonderfully cultured and a joy to watch. As others have said, he just seemed to glide across the turf.

But the best of all time? As much as I liked him and Diesel Morris (I had his little blue sock tie tabs - remember them?) I can't see him being better than Franz and Arnie, Warky, Dyer or Magic.
