No doubt it will be reduced on appeal as well. I'd have thought it would be a better deterrent to have a percentage-based penalty, rather than a points-deduction, which hurts the lesser teams more than the more successful ones.

That's what I thought. Especially after all the time and money that goes into the investigation as well. Luton have been a bit stitched up by these rulings and subsequent appeals. Imagine them playing out the last few minutes of a game to get a valuable draw, only to find out a few weeks later that they should have pushed for a winner given the points (at the time) accumulated by their rivals.

Will be years before we even reach that point, and then the appeal will take even longer.

Forest docked 4 points on 16:41 - Mar 18 with 1219 views | rickw | I can't see anywhere why they got docked 4 pts for being 35m over the limit where-as Everton got 10 down to 6 points deducted for being 19m over. I don't care for either team just seems like they're making up as they go!

Forest were going to be deducted 6 points also, but they full cooperated, so were only given 4.

More than Leicester’s or Man City’s by the looks of it. Getting away with cheating on a technicality seems a bit off. Or at least deferring any punishment even if they don’t completely get away with it.

Is this current deduction influenced at all by the Everton one after appeal? It sounds like it probably was with that being the case

But it's claimed Everton didn't cooperate to push the verdict into this season rather than lose points last season which would have meant relegation.

It’s teams gaming the system or benefiting from stupid rules that annoys me. Like Leicester can’t face sanctions because they’re in a different league - bonkers. The leagues also can’t be trusted to police themselves, not when the clubs are so prominent in their governing. This independent regulator seems like a good idea, if it has any teeth - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68602074. It seems long overdue.
