Greatest speech 11:29 - May 3 with 2060 views_clive_baker_

Anyone got any suggestions? Either fictional or IRL.

I'll go with this. As relevant today as it was 80 years ago.

This speech about teamwork is rather compelling.

“We’re under a lot of pressure, you know, and you put us there. Nothing’s riding on this except the, uh, First Amendment to the Constitution, freedom of the press and maybe the future of the country. Not that any of that matters, but if you guys f— up again, I’m going to get mad."

There have been some great Scottish speakers who combine oratory with passion.

One of the finest was Jimmy Reid and following speech was printed in full in the New York Times and described by the paper as ‘the greatest speech since President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address’.

Here is one of the few snippets of the speech available on video.

A few rousing words from Kenneth perhaps:

A vast improvement on what what Henry V actually said. A contemporary chronicler said that all he actually uttered was "Fellas, let's go!"

We started with...
"let's attack this league"
One game at a time
Well, this is the last of those

We've come so far, in such a short time, to here, & now
To the verge of history
Having made history, breaking records along the way

So now, one final effort
(To reflect upon your careers)
For yourselves, & your families

For Keiran & his staff

For the history of this club

For these fans, for these amazing, brilliant fans

For Sir Bobby, Sir Alf, England & St George

it was a great speech, almost 20mins long, some of the invited guests werent happy about sitting in the Texas heat for that long having spent a few hours already waiting for him to turn up.

the opening part alone could be replayed in any era, any decade, its timeless

but I always think his closing remarks about George Mallory are the best part, probably because it rarely gets heard, but it sums up the whole point he was making in that speech.
