Is he right? on 21:10 - May 15 with 963 views | BarcaBlue | He's not but Bielsa is a bit special. It's just that he went too extreme wherever he went, he ultimately failed at Bilbao and Leeds as his approach was unsustainable. He is Guardiola, McKenna, Klopp etc on steroids.

Is he right? on 21:33 - May 15 with 797 views | HighgateBlue | "match the points record for a newly promoted side in the Premier League". No. He's not right. Arithmetically, mathematically, logically just wrong. There was a side which got more points as a newly promoted team in a 38 game premier league season. Some side from East Anglia, pleasant Scot as manager. I don't understand. I mean, Bielsa did a great job. But the notion that he equalled the record points tally is just not correct. I'm not sure why a claim like that would be made without just checking. It's hard to compare his Leeds with Burley's Ipswich because a lot changed in 20 years, but we did finish in the proper-ish European places. It's also very hard to compare his achievement with McKenna, because Kieran hasn't yet done it in the Premier League, but has been faultless outside of it. Apples and oranges. And numeracy difficulties. This Leeds'-biased article (I'm not knocking it): https://motforum.com/article.php?page=41633 Has the following two paras: "Officially Marcelo Bielsa’s side are the fourth most successful promoted side in Premier League history behind the Nottingham Forest team of 1994/95, Newcastle United of 1993/1994 and Ipswich of 2000/2001. Those teams managed a total of 77, 77 and 66 points respectively. However, there is an argument for discounting the Forest and Newcastle sides for a few reasons. Firstly with 22 teams in the Premier League back then it was a 42 game season. Secondly the gulf financially between the Premier League and the Football League had not yet reached todays levels, te disparity between the haves and have nots had not yet truly materialised. For those reasons it’s not really possible to compare us to Newcastle and Forest because it was effectively a totally different playing field. That brings us to George Burley's Ipswich. Now they were a very impressive side who scored a good amount of goal, weren’t overly defensive and played in an era where the gulf between the haves and the have nots was a bit more obvious. So it is hard to choose between that Ipswich side and Leeds United’s class of 2010/2021."
