Myanmar 08:14 - May 22 with 498 views | DJR | Fascinating report on the World Service from Quentin Sommerville who has spent a month in Myanmar where the military dictatorship are on the retreat, which is good to see. Here's the written version. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0600jgey2po [Post edited 22 May 8:14]

Myanmar on 08:24 - May 22 with 429 views | BloomBlue | It was only the BBC 10pm news last night. Amazing when he and his camera man had to get quickly away from an unexpected attack from the army, they were tracking the vehicles including the one he was in, as mortars fell near their vehicles as they were speeding away
Myanmar on 08:58 - May 22 with 366 views | Guthrum | There are some very messy elements to the situation. The resistance consists not only of ethnic militia groups and Burmese former anti-government protestors, but has been joined by some of the criminal elements (smugglers, scammers) operating in lawless areas of the north, who have switched sides. Also, the Chinese are getting increasingly unhappy with the Naypyidaw regime and their inability to stop the conflict spilling over the border.

Myanmar on 09:16 - May 22 with 328 views | GlasgowBlue | There’s a reason why it’s called the forgotten war. It’s not on our screens 24/7 and we aren’t seeing weekly protests across our major cities. No Jews = No news.

I'm not sure that's quite right. Any war in which Western countries are involved always has extensive coverage, such as Vietnam, the Falklands War, the first and second Gulf Wars, Libya, and the war in Ukraine. In contrast, conflicts or civil wars where the West has little in the way of strategic interests get very little coverage. [Post edited 22 May 9:29]
