John Wark has gained two League Title medals… 13:10 - Oct 16 with 1774 views | ITFC_Forever | Liverpool commissioned some additional medals for the players who didn’t meet the criteria back in the day. Copy & paste from Facebook: 🔴🥇BREAKING: Liverpool FC have presented 14 former players with retrospective league winners' medals for their part in some of the club's 20 titles. The specially-sourced winners’ medals were created to mark their achievements in title-winning sides. The players missed out on medals due to English Football League qualifying criteria in place at the time. ⭕Alan Kennedy – 8 appearances 1985/86 season ⭕David Fairclough – 8 appearances 1982/83 season ⭕David Hodgson – 5 appearances 1983/84 season ⭕Jan Molby – 7 appearances 1987/88 season ⭕Paul Walsh – 8 appearances 1987/88 season ⭕Ronny Rosenthal – 8 appearances 1989/90 season ⭕Terry McDermott – 9 appearances 1975/76 season ⭕John Wark received two medals – 9 appearances in both 1983/84 and 1985/86 seasons ⭕Chris Lawler – 6 appearances 1963/64 season – his son collected on his behalf. Sir Kenny Dalglish, who was on hand to present the medals, said: “We’re thrilled to have been able to celebrate this occasion at Anfield. It was an emotional night for many and it’s a real honour to have been able to source and present league championship winner's medals to our Forever Reds. “Their role in winning one or in one case two of our twenty league titles deserve a medal not only to mark their achievement but also for playing such a significant part in our club’s decorated history for which we are immensely grateful.” Well done also to The Redmen: Independent Liverpool FC News, who were a massive driver in getting the medals to the former players. 👏

Yes, I think it used to be around 12 appearances. In 1962 Wilf Hall, Dermot Curtis, Ken Malcom and Reg Picket did not meet the number.

In the 83/84 he joined late in the season, and in 85/86 he was injured. As regards 84/85, this from Wikipedia shows just what a player he was. His unusual ability as a goalscoring midfielder was on display when he finished the 1984–85 season as the club's top goal scorer, ahead of prolific striker Ian Rush, with a tally of 27 goals in 62 appearances—a goal every 2.3 games. Wark's season included three hat-tricks, one each in the League, the FA Cup and the European Cup. [Post edited 17 Oct 8:58]

Do you mean 83/84 he joined late in the season?

Peak Frank Lampard and peak Claude Makelele combined in one player. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I always used to say that Wark is the greatest ever ITFC player and The Beat was the best player ever. I think it does make sense!
