Are you related to them? I don't think the Cowley Brothers will want to leave Lincoln to be honest. Why should they? Also Mick has said he is staying so there is no point suggesting anybody. By the way, welcome to the forum.

15% off anything in the restaurant and shop. Not just scones either!

Likewise. Only 20% off everything. And I don't have to buy an annual pass.

Future manager on 10:20 - Apr 28 with 1793 views | Guthrum | They might be able to if, as at Lincoln, they have one of the larger budgets in the division. Unless you mean just getting the team psyched up for a handful of cup matches a season. In which case you'd be better with Phil Parkinson who managed Bradford to victory over more than one of the Prem big boys on their way to the League Cup final and the FA Cup quarters - plus having promotions on his CV.

To be fair, they have a growing track record at a number of clubs with variable budgets. But as bluebell says, it's irrelevant, Mick will be staying.

Parkinson's also been sacked twice. The Cowley's only have success on their CVs, and success at 3 different clubs. If they had a small budget for the division you'd still find a way to criticise them, as ultimately you're just defending MM again.

I, too, reckon McCarthy will be here next season. I simply don't think it reasonable to regard the Cowley Brothers as some sort of miracle workers, suitable for immediate employment at the highest levels, just because they beat us on TV - when a fair bit of that was down to own crapness that day.

That's ignoring that they almost beat us at home in the first leg when we played a full strength team, as well as ignoring their triumphs over Brighton and Burnley. They aren't miracle workers and wouldn't be employed at the "highest levels". Mick is though...

Concord Rangers, Braintree Town and now Lincoln City. Highest level, the National League. Hardly Garry Monk levels of proving themselves. I didn't mention McCarthy. Just pointing out that it would be one hell of a gamble to to pitch the Cowleys straight into management of a Championship club, a level and size of organisation way above what they've ever experienced, even as players.

It would be a gamble, but we need to gamble or we're f*cked. They aren't comparable to any other managers as things stand, they couldn't have done anymore from the level they started at. It's the fact they scouted the teams from higher levels out and beat them that makes them attractive. If they can get that bunch of ragtags dominating us over 2 legs then they should be able to compete in this division with this bunch of players. Their wages wouldn't be dwarfing the players either, which is the curious dynamic in place here at the moment.

A gamble could leave us f*cked we are in football terms very stable

We aren't, we've avoided relegation in April and if we stick with the manager who's taken us here from the playoffs then our fate is inevitable.

The top two tiers of English football are the "highest levels". Regularly regarded as among the toughest and most competitive in the world. So, they've managed to turn over some half-decent teams* on a cup run. Parkinson did better than that, as I pointed out - and he has a stronger record of promotions at a much higher level. * Us during a dip in form and confidence, Brighton reserves while chasing promotion, Burnley who were concentrating on staying in the Prem.
