Thanks for those links, I was unaware of these organisations. However, I feel that the petition on the second link would be a lot more effective and relevant if it were a YouGov petition:
Also, bear in mind that if an 'opt out of voting for a candidate' is present on ballot papers then there is a strong argument to introduce compulsory participation for all eligible citizens in an election (this applies if you live in Australia: https://www.aec.gov.au/Voting/Compulsory_Voting.htm A$20 if you do not) with the potential for fines and imprisonment for failure to vote or register to vote. And we do have a balance of payments deficit...

I am also told that there is a A$1000 for littering and the place is spotless.....no idea if it is actually true though!
