Pension Fund Investors 13:53 - Apr 8 with 4618 views | blueasfook | While I applaud new investment and new leadership, it rang a small alarm bell with me when I read GC20 is basically a front for pension fund investment. These guys don't mess about and want quick returns on their investments. If Town don't deliver, they will drop the club like a stone. Back with more optimistic outlooks soon...

MOL's comments suggest they know the opportunity and there'll be some time. EDITL Meant isn't not is ffs. [Post edited 8 Apr 2021 14:22]

My mate's terrified by this sort of investment, to the point where he wanted the takeover to collapse. I'm no expert when it comes to financial matters and he's becoming unbearable to talk to about it, is there a way to word things that might ease his fears?

Not sure the pension fund are even involved in Phoenix? It's Benevolent Capital I believe amongst other co-owners. [Post edited 8 Apr 2021 14:49]

Dont get tho. O leary already said promotion to championship next season or the one after. So that's poss 2 years. You cant expect auto championship promotion wither so that could take a few years. I reckon itll be a 6-10 year plan

though big pension funds will have an allocation to private equity. usually through pooled vehicles - sometimes even direct. while this seems a good opportunity for us, i'm struggling to see how it's an appropriate investment for a pension fund. they might as well start betting some of their funds on the horses.

an extremely low exposure though, as ITFC will be to the pension fund backing us. Whilst investing in sport in the UK would be seen as high risk it is quite common in USA and this fund is £10.5 bil plus. Exposure to ITFC guessing £15m to £20m pa initially on top of first year purchase cost

is it really common in the usa? i genuinely hadn't heard of us pension funds doing this. would big long-term mixed asset funds normally have an allocation? if it's recognised as an asset class i'm amazed that the preferred route isn't via some pooled vehicle. having sole exposure to one investment seems like sticking £20m on the two thirty. how can the pension fund managers have the expertise to assess the risk in something like this - ORG seems to be a real estate manager? i can't imagine that the uk regulator would see it as appropriate for a pension fund. edit: found an article about private equity and sports investments: https://www.privateequityinternational.com/the-new-playbook-how-private-equity-f it seems to be an evolving area - but highly specialist, with managers building portfolios of diverse minority positions. it makes me think that a pension fund taking the controlling stake in a 3rd tier uk club is even odder. This... Plus the investment would be for long term growth and based on the Investment manager. In this case The Three Kings based off previous management/returns/confidence levels. When you have billions of a portfolio to invest you are going to set aside funds for high risk growth strategies.
