Goodlaw project and Tory corruption 10:18 - Dec 26 with 1367 viewsMullet

I saw Gove was gloating on twitter just before Christmas that GLP were not successful in court (very typical of Gove) but they did publish this short list on the 21st https://goodlawproject.org/revealed-the-names-of-those-who-referred-covid-testin

Do we think that the next government will have any interest in delving back into this? It seems likely they will rely on the news cycle changing so many times it is forgotten about. The Mone story seems like an attempt to sacrifice someone publicly, but she clearly had a tip off as she sold off loads of assets and skipped abroad in all too convenient timing.

The GLP published this the day after which seems to encapsulate the problem nicely albeit from one side. https://goodlawproject.org/update/michael-gove-let-off-the-hook-after-awarding-8

The key line is that "the judiciary........have little interest" in investigating what is quite clearly a corrupt system. The excuse will be the exceptional need for urgency. The fact that billions were awarded and little value or effect achieved will become lost whilst the purse strings are tightened and the establishment make nurses and train drivers et al the villains of the piece. Our turn as teachers will come in the New Year no doubt as we damage kids who have already suffered through missed time due to Covid.

Did you see that "vile scumbag" as he likes to call Nurses and Posties, McKenzie already getting ahead of the curve the other day and going after teachers?

Was laughable and trite but will gain ground with certain people. The big problem for the government seems to be that despite constantly briefing that public support is being lost, quite the opposite is true.

"she clearly had a tip off as she sold off loads of assets and skipped abroad in all too convenient timing." so we can add insider trading to the list of this Government's extensive corruption.

It seems to me the focus of many media outlets is the suffering all these striking workers are inflicting on the tax paying public and at Christmas time too!!! All but ignoring any valid claims they have.

It's endemic and partially explained by the public school culture endemic in the government. It's all a myriad of favours and keeping soft power over everything by using connections to delegate.

Alongside Charlie wanting a lavish a coronation during a cost of living crisis and Mone's own HoL, it's one of many areas where British politics needs cleaning up.

I think the purpose of the courts is to uphold the law of the land so gloating about victory and then moaning about the other side gloating appears disingenuous.

''To our profound surprise — and that of our lawyers — this ruling was overturned in the Court of Appeal.''

I've worked in legal for 10 years. It sounds like they need better lawyers or stop flogging dead horses on the back of donations funding their litigation.
