Isn't there some guy called Reg Dwight who can play a similar position?

Did you know that his uncle played in the 1959 F.A.Cup Final?

I didn't. Scored as well. Presumably Elton supports Watford because they are not Luton and he lived too far from Nottingham. I hadn't realised Luton had been in an FA Cup Final either - is that why Eric Morecambe feigned support for them I wonder. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1959_FA_Cup_Final

Luton beat us 5-2 at PR in the fifth round that season,I was at that game. I also remember watching the 1959 Final on TV,obviously in black and white which was useful because Luton played in black and white. Don't know how Eric Morecambe got involved with Luton but I think his support/interest was genuine.

Sorry about this PJH but I have had the TWTD yellow card for factual inaccuracy a few times, never thought I would have to show you one! Roy Dwight was Elton's cousin, not uncle: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Dwight That 1959 final sounds a corker, Roy getting his leg broke, Forest down to ten men with another stationary through cramp yet still winning, Billy Bingham hitting the side netting in the dying minutes, Forest fans singing the Robin Hood theme tune. All it needed was jumpers for goalposts and it would have been perfect.

I hadn't realised they'd been in an FA Cup final either. I remember them having two consecutive League Cup finals in 1987/88 and again in 1988/89, winning it the first time.

How could you forget Steve Foster's Headband. Didn't Ian Cranson sport one too for a while?

I have wasted years of my life thinking that Elton John's uncle played in the 1959 Final and now you tell me it was his cousin. Cup Final's often had one of the teams down to 10 men,David Whelan of DW fame broke his leg in the 1960 Final.

Well I hadn't forgotten Steve Foster's headband, but his appearance in an FA Cup final was for Brighton, wasn't it? He was captain for Luton when they won the League Cup. Edit: And yes, Cranson had one - but wasn't that during his Sheffield Wednesday time - can't remember if he had one whilst with us? [Post edited 25 Apr 2017 12:31]

Milk Cup was Oxford v Luton in 1988.... my Uncle went to it as he was a milkman for Unigate and he won a competition at work. He sent me a programme from the game.

Are you sure? Thought the Milk Cup finished earlier than that. I'm pretty sure it had become Littlewoods by the time Luton were in it? Edit: Must've been the Oxford v QPR one he sent you the programme from... The winners of the Milk Cup: 1982 - Liverpool 3-1 Tottenham 1983 - Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United 1984 - Liverpool 1-0 Everton 1985 - Norwich City 1-0 Sunderland 1986 - Oxford United 3-0 QPR The winners of the Littlewoods Cup: 1987 - Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool 1988 - Luton Town 3-2 Arsenal 1989 - Nottingham Forest 3-1 Luton Town 1990 - Nottingham Forest 1-0 Oldham Athletic [Post edited 25 Apr 2017 12:45]

Dave Whealen broke his leg in a cup final? And yet he's never mentioned it...
