Well that was a pleasant and unexpected surprise this morning…. on 07:47 - Dec 10 with 1487 views | SaleAway | Woke up around 5:30am, and saw that Root and Malan were set, so I stayed up and watched. Pitch looks pretty flat, although one or two kicked off a length, no real threat from the aussies. If we can survive the morning session tomorrow, we'll be in decent shape, but I worry about the new ball.

I saw a few comments from Chappell who said this pitch reminds him of the one played on against India at this ground, when Australia set India 330 to win. Blimey, we’re going to need to bat like demons to post a lead of that magnitude. You just know it’s the hope that kills you being an England fan, expect 270 a/o tomorrow!!!!

can we get Australia's one?
Well that was a pleasant and unexpected surprise this morning…. on 08:27 - Dec 10 with 1317 views | BlueandTruesince82 | Great to see both get runs, a confidence boost for the rest of the series but still 60 odd behind so England need to put on at least another 250 to have something to bowl at unless the pitch really deterioates... even if we did I think we'd need a little help from the aussies [Post edited 10 Dec 2021 11:15]

This is the issue, we need to get probably another 300-350 to set them something difficult such that they might go for a draw. They just need a breakthrough...
Well that was a pleasant and unexpected surprise this morning…. on 09:52 - Dec 10 with 1176 views | Guthrum | I looked at Cricinfo when I woke up and misread the score as 147 and 220 all out. Quite delighted when I realised we were in fact only 58 runs behind with eight wickets in hand, including Stokes and Buttler still in the shed. Get to and through the new ball, we might give them something reasonably hefty to chase on the final day.

London-born Dawid Malan, do you mean?

Well that was a pleasant and unexpected surprise this morning…. on 11:12 - Dec 10 with 1087 views | gainsboroughblue | It's given us hope, which I hope isn't false. The new ball in ten overs will be crucial but if we manage to escape, it will be up there with the first test of 2010-11 of great escapes. 517-1 I believe we got then.

Well that was a pleasant and unexpected surprise this morning…. on 13:35 - Dec 10 with 985 views | clive_baker | Yeah. I'm not even thinking it gives us a chance to win, to be honest I'm just thinking we could make a game of it and lose respectably. Not to sound defeatist, but given day 1 it would be a decent turaround and hopefully give us confidence going into the next tests away from Brisbane, and with Anderson back. Next little milestone is to get 59 more without loss, effectively 1-2 at that stage. Then try and give them something starting in a 2 to chase. Watch them skittle through us now and win by 8 or 9 wickets.

I am with you mate, I really hope we can take it to the final day but I think we will be all out by tea
