File that one under 'Soft Penalties' (n/t) on 20:28 - Nov 20 with 1311 views | Herbivore | That's an absolute shocker for me. That said, thought Maguire was lucky earlier in the half so arguably it's evened itself out.

If they had gone to VAR for Maguire’s I could understand it, but that was ridiculous.

Absolutely right. Nonsense decision.

yes, on both counts. But it does mean the ref has cocked up twice.

Seems a little pointless if they aren’t going to look at what’s being presented. There’s no chance that’s a penalty | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Two wrongs making a right maybe?

Baffling. Clearly the momentum of the ball is going beyond the striker and Lewis has turned with to head it on. He’s got his back to the striker, his eyes on the ball and his finger tips have flicked the face. At worst it’s a facial and head massage tomorrow morning, not a pen. Time for VAR to go. It’s become painfully pathetic now.

This was his chance to re-address that and come out of it with respect.. But he blew it.

Might have been on his mind, but the upshot is he has made two mistakes now instead of one.

It is ridiculous. Every commentator now always says “oh we know what this means..” whenever a ref goes to the screen. Surely the on-field ref should be bold and brave enough to go with their own decision or just say NO to the VAR.

On the subject of VAR, how long did it take for them to decide that Grealish was offside for his 'goal'? Three minutes when you could see in three seconds, or even less. Proof that not all the sh!t refs are in the EFL.

I thought Ukraine should have had a pen in injury time too which didn’t even get a VAR review. Don’t think there was even a yellow brandished - it was either a pen or a dive; much more in favour of a foul.
