David Sheepshanks has confirmed that talks have taken place with Richard Wright and with Blackburn Rovers regarding Franny Jeffers. The Town chairman does not expect either move to be completed quite yet.

Sheepshanks said: “We have had a discussion with Richard Wright and he has gone on holiday to review his options.

“When a player is released on a free transfer then the remuneration package has to be right for the player but it is also about which club the player wants to go to. We could not compete with Rangers [who were linked earlier in the week] financially for example, but there are many other factors for a player to consider and we hope Richard wants to come back to us.”

TWTD's understanding is that Wright strongly favours a return to Suffolk and the move will go through before the start of pre-season training on June 12th.

As reported on Tuesday, Blackburn are understood to want a seven-figure fee for Jeffers, who has a year remaining on his deal at Ewood Park. They are unlikely to achieve such a large return on the striker, who joined them on a free last summer, and it appears to be the first step in the negotiation process with Town and any other interested parties.

Derby County were recently reported to be keen on the former Everton and Arsenal frontman, who has said he would like to rejoin the Blues on a number of occasions during his loan spell. Sheepshanks says that talks are under way, but that he doesn't expect any concrete news this week.

The Town chairman says the club have had no interest in Lewis Price, who looks likely to leave the Blues after Wright's signing. Burnley were linked earlier in the week.

Scott Barron, who had his contract settled earlier in the month, has been linked with a move to former loan club Wrexham or to Conference side Rushden and Diamonds. Spanish full-back Sito is reported to be interesting clubs back in Spain, however it is our understanding that he would prefer to stay in England and is looking for another Championship club.

Meanwhile, former Town academy central defender Lee Beevers has signed a new two-year deal at Lincoln City. Beevers, 23, joined Boston after being released by the Blues in 2003, moving on to the Imps two years later.
