Boss Jim Magilton says he would love to have loanee Giovani Dos Santos return to the club next season. The 19-year-old Spurs striker or midfielder is currently with the Blues until the end of the season.

Magilton said: ”I'd love to have him here next season. When you get a loan player, they go back with the hope that they'll play in their first team, as was the case with Danny Simpson when we had him from Manchester United last year.

"And quite rightly so, if you're contracted to Tottenham Hotspur and you have a summer off and you come back for pre-season, you think you're going to play in their team.

"So, it will be a case of monitoring the situation and if we get an opportunity to bring him in, he's someone who certainly can make a difference at this level.”

Magilton says the Blues have noticed Dos Santos's absence while he has been out with an abductor strain: "Gio's return is a massive plus for us. We missed him last week. He's someone who gives us that spark. He's looked lively and he's really looking forward to it.

"This year we haven't had someone can open the door for us and make things happen. He excites people.”

Dos Santos looks set to make his third start for the Blues against Doncaster, in addition to one sub appearance, having scored one goal.

Meanwhile, Magilton has reiterated that no new deals will be offered to any of the 13 out of contract players before the end of the season. Of that 13, only Alex Bruce has been made an offer, but the Irish international rejected his new terms in January.

The Town manager has also heard nothing new on his future from owner Marcus Evans beyond the statement backing him released prior to the Nottingham Forest match.
