Reason and Cambridge Lose Final

On-loan midfielder Jai Reason's Cambridge United suffered Blue Square Premier play-off final heartache for the second successive year as Torquay beat the U's 2-0 at Wembley.

Reason, recently released by the Blues, played the full 90 minutes as he completed a highly successful loan spell at the Abbey Stadium.

Cambridge boss Gary Brabin has said he would be interested in signing the 19-year-old on a permanent basis, but Football League sides including Hartlepool have been keeping an eye on the Town academy product in recent months.

Elsewhere, Sunderland's David Healy has again been linked with the Blues, much like last week and at the end of April. New Town boss Roy Keane signed Healy from Fulham when manager at Sunderland.

Meanwhile, Coronation Street actor Mikey North has revealed his support for the Blues. North, who plays Gary Windass in the soap, disclosed his Town allegiance after Hull City striker Dean Windass made a visit to his Weatherfield ‘relatives'.

Scarborough-born North says he and the veteran striker reminisced about a game against one of his previous clubs: "It was great to meet Dean – he scored a goal against Ipswich when he played for Sheffield United and he remembered the goal and that the final scoreline was 2-0. I didn't really need reminding of that.

"I'd love to have Dean come back and play my uncle, and maybe at the end of the season Roy Keane can sign him for Ipswich and that would help them get in the Premier League.”
