Leadbitter Deal Reportedly Done
Leadbitter Deal Reportedly Done
Tuesday, 1st Sep 2009 13:08

Sunderland midfielder Grant Leadbitter is reported to have completed his move to the Blues. The 23-year-old is said to have signed a three-year contract.

The joint deal involving Leadbitter and Carlos Edwards is understood to be costing the Blues £4 million after top-ups, with the England U21 international said to make up £2.6 million of that fee.

Town’s signing of Edwards is also thought to be very close to being confirmed.

This is good news. I am surprised there is no news about any pleayers leaving though. Garvan seems surplus to requirements as does Stead. Lets sell these donkeys if we are finally getting some decent players in. Maybe we could also pay a club to take Delaney and Trotter?

£4m huh

Happy with both signings if they happen but would probably rate Edwards at £2.4m rather than t'other way round

Positivity, please! 'wouldn't be too upset to see the Edwards deal fall through". What?! "Probably rate Edwards at 2.4 m rather than other way around". Ehh?! "Hope they're better signings than Keane has already made" - Doom! Gloom! Welcome to Ipswich!

Edwards would be an excellent signing but at 30 wouldn't be worth as much as 2.6m. Someone tried to buy Leadbitter last year for 3 million, so to get both for 2.4m would be absolutely incredible! Come on Keano!!

I understand that this deal is done now. As a Sunderland fan I want to wish Grant good luck. Always gave 100% at Sunderland and you tractor boys will soon realize what a good player he is.

I'm of the opinion that paying £1.5m+ for an injury-prone 30-year-old right winger who's likely to be on huge wages, when we already have 2 quality players for that position already at the club isn't really necessary.

I'd prefer to see the club's money spent on areas that DO need strengthening - like a left back than isn't a centre-back playing out of position...

If GIO comes it will be on an emergency loan and about a 0.1% chance of that! Harry wants to sell not loan if possible, the loan will only take place if the squeeze is on for Harry and the wages [which I doubt!] Harry has said NO, NO, NO . . .

Not sure the 'Executives' have quite got up to speed on the Buying and Loaning bit of football yet. The etiquette of player courtship seems to be lost and potential players left in the cold concerning deals that take longer then normal for a 'Big' Football Club. I like the 'Exec' team but not sure they listening to those dropping hints on how things should be done - Getting things done at short notice is a big doubt! We'll see tonight won't we, go on prove me wrong or at least prove your getting better..... . . . Watson to QPR oh dear. . .

Bet they can't sell Trotter!
