Keane Again Linked With Move for Coach
Keane Again Linked With Move for Coach
Tuesday, 27th Oct 2009 08:23

A number of this morning’s newspapers are again reporting that manager Roy Keane is set to add to his coaching staff. Claims that Keane will be bringing in an additional senior coach first surfaced over the weekend.

Ex-England boss Peter Taylor’s name is mentioned by a number of sources, TWTD having first linked 56-year-old with the role at the weekend after he had been spotted at both Town’s recent home games.

One report this morning claims Taylor, who left his job as manager of Wycombe Wanderers earlier in the month, met Keane at a recent reserve match and the pair hit it off. We understand Taylor has been scouting for Wolves since leaving Wycombe.

Early in the season, Keane dismissed reports that he planned to add to his backroom staff with former Manchester United coach Brian Kidd then linked.

I agree with jayessess.

Read into it what you like, but when RK moves on we now have a capable replacement. if the rumours are true.

Mind you if it is like RK getting in players then he will probably go elsewhere, and we will get in Ron Atkinson or Graham Taylor, terry Venables??

tractorboybig - I doubt anyone has forced PT on RK. I reckon this is just a shrewd bit of foresight by RK. RK might be his own man but he is proving to us that he can accept mistakes and is definitely making ITFC a stronger structure throughout. I'm confident this we're on the up. And I really believe that ME & Cleggy are gonna give RK the time to show the doubters they were wrong. Nice to see a fair few of them already on this post today......Sad gits!

The suggestion possibly came from the top - it's what they do. Given that Keane himself brought in someone and there were rumours of Brian Kidd (shame this came to nothing) - I'm sure if the right man came along and was available, RK would have no problem bringing in such a guy as Peter Taylor. He's experienced, knows the lower leagues (from whence came John Walters) and has been scouting for Wolves since leaving Wycombe... He'd be a great appointment and folks seeing this as a way of replacing Keane or Keane being reluctant, etc, its all rumours by the conspiracy theorists.

Jim brought in Gorman - and that was good for us (look at the stats) and it seems to be working at QPR. The concept of younger managers is fairly new in relative terms and having a young man guided / assisted by an old pro is a get idea.

Next week - Avram Grant will be appointed Director of Football.

Well done Tractorbigboy I was waiting for someone to hint at something like this being forced upon Keane. You didn't disappoint you are the first I have read....what drivel. It was suggested when JM brought in an experienced number 2 it was being forced on him and he didn't even like the guy. Now he is at QPR who is his number two there I forget? Same here if RK wants to bring in an experienced #2 he will if doesn't he won't, he will not except anything or anyone being forced upon him.

Why would Taylor be such a great idea?. His recent record is awful. Sure he did well with young england players but so he should have. Recently he's been going from pillor to post. Even spent some time at Stevenage. Lets get some someone with some new ideas not another appointment from the manager merrygoround store

I hope it means the end of the road for Steve Foley, I fail to see what he's brought to the club.

How about Bryan Hamilton as coach; Ipswich pedigree and proven track record.
