Lisbie Happy to Stay With Colchester
Lisbie Happy to Stay With Colchester
Tuesday, 2nd Feb 2010 09:00

Striker Kevin Lisbie says he’s happy to remain at Colchester for the rest of the season, but would have preferred to have made a permanent move away from the Blues during the transfer window.

Lisbie was close to joining Southampton earlier in the month but in the end the Saints opted to recruit Southend’s Lee Barnard, while interest from another Championship side came to nothing.

The 31-year-old said: “I'm happy with it all being over and done with for now. I've always said that I would love to stay and try to help get Colchester promoted, but obviously it would have been better for me to have found a club and got a two or three-year contract.”

Lisbie is contracted to the Blues until 2011 and Town will again look to offload the ex-Charlton man when the summer transfer window opens.

Is this guy actually stupid? What an insult, not just to us, but to Colchester who have "saved him" from rotting in our reserves. I wouldn't play him there to be honest. USeless at Championship level. Overpaid and wrong attitude for the game. Game over Lisbie.

I couldn't agree more with the comments from slatisatractorboy. I am a Colchester fan and we as fans have supported Kevin Lisbie 100%. I can't believe Lisbie has come out with these comments. He should be grateful that he is playing as we do have 4 other strikers to replace him. One minute he is coming out with that he loves playing for us and doesn't want to move anywhere else and the next, he's saying that he wishes another club came in for him offering him a long term contract. Lisbie - get your head down, score some goals and then see if a bigger club comes in for you in the summer!

He did say he wants to help get Colchester promoted, he's just looking out for his future as someone at his age won't want 6 month contracts here or there. Obviously Colchester can't afford him so he knows his future will lie elsewhere! I'm sure he'd prefer to have a long contract at the U's.

What annoys me about Lisbie is that he makes all these noises about how much he loves being at Colchester yet the club say they can't sign him on a permanent deal because of his wages.

Surely if he is that much in love with the place he should be able to work something out. Although he might have to take a bit of a pay cut, he would no doubt be on a fair old whack. Still earning more in a month than most of us do in a year. Lets face it, if you were unhappy in a job. Found one that you enjoyed on less money but still paid enough to be comfortable, you would more than likely take it.

Lisbie behaves like a six year old. The sooner we get rid of him the better.

id offer him a 5 year contract at town and let him rot being ball boy for the reserves for being such a knob publicly, it would be a valuable life lesson

When he signed a 3 year deal 18 months ago he surely knew he was probably using the best season of his career to take his last big contract given he will be 33 almost as soon as the next one starts. There aren't too many clubs going to be committing big money for a 33/34 year old unless he's doing something out of the ordinary.

If had agreed to move a bit nearer to Town he may still be in first team reckoning (well not now we have Murphy and Healey, but you know what I mean)

But he made it clear that he didn't want to play here, so, if he had swallowed some pride and negotiated a reasonable salary with Col U, he would be there full time by now.

Who the hell does this guy think he is?

cant believe his attitude and lack of tact, to either us or Col U who are paying his wages/giving him games.

Why ever JM signed this chap is beyond me! Speaking out in the press against Roy (despite being given a chance to impress), now telling Colchester fans he would have preferred a move. Unbelievable. We are SO lucky he is no longer with us!

What an ungrateful idiot! Why would anyone want him playing for them? He should have a reality check and look around at the large number of people in this country who dont stand a hope in hell of having a job at the moment. He obviously rates himself a lot higher than the rest of us! Also, a kick in the teethe for Col.U
