Worthington Delighted With Healy Move
Worthington Delighted With Healy Move
Tuesday, 2nd Feb 2010 09:06

Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington is delighted with striker David Healy’s move to the Blues. The 30-year-old signed on loan for the rest of the season just before yesterday’s 5pm deadline.

Worthington is pleased that Healy will be getting games while with the Blues: "This is a great move for David, and it will ensure he is playing regular first team football.

"It is vital to be playing regularly, especially when it comes to competing at international level.

"This will be a break from the long, arduous spell on the sidelines he has experienced at Sunderland."

Healy has scored a record 35 goals in 78 games for Northern Ireland.

Nope , I think he has struggled in the premier -it is quite obvious-but you dont score that many International goals and not be able to cut it . Give the guy a chance and I think he will score goals - we create chances just have failed to take them - he is a finisher - Murphy good for the left side .. be positive

Despite poor goalscoring record elsewhere, let's give the guy a chance. He can obviously finish with the right service. Also, we signed someone who scored a lot at this level, and proved useless (Priskin) .Plus anything that keeps Lisbie away from PR is a welcome addition in my eyes!

suprise suprise first comment of the day is a negative one, if we'd somehow gotten Wayne Rooney on a loan deal people on here would still be moaning, everyone wanted a striker, Keane got a striker and people are still not happy

Not that I'm biased, but he did it from the Green and Black Army (NI) and given the right service TO FEET. He will do it for us. If they think he's goning to win it inthe air then we will get sweet Fanny Adams. I will decalre my slight bias being as I'm Norn Irish. Out comes me flag for Saturday "Our Wee Country"!

... the negativity is hardly surprising, the strategy of buying sunderland castoffs has so far yielded the prospect of relegation to the third divison for the first time in more than half a century ...

Lets put this in perspective of Keans buys:

Leadbitter - Class
Rosenior - Excellent Loan Purchase
Bogavic - Just been sold for 3.25 class keeper who noone had heard off !
Priskin - Not cut it yet
Martin - Not cut it yet
Delaney - Paying excellent at centre half with Mac
Murphy - FAI keeper of the year again ! awaiting to see him play
Colin Healy - Admits he made a mistake which we all do time to time !
Daryl Murphy - Keano obviously rate sthis guy having chased him for so long and he has been playing a few prem games recently for Bruce so he must think he has something
David Healy - I think will do a job for us, only a month or so ago people on here where saying we would have healy he is just what we need and then we sign him and people still moan !!

For christs sake give this lads and manager and chance and support your team instead of moaning at that all the time. And perhaps when you are free one Saturday afternoon you could come down to support them at the ground !!!

why the negativity? i am anti sunderwich etc too, but this is a player we've been chasing for years, but is not now +32.. he is a proven goalscorer at championship level, and if he was an honest bloke, would agree hes not yet Premier League pedigree.. same as Nugent who i would have been delighted if we fionally signed..

i hope he scores goals for us, people give him a chance, and that he stays with us as he will be another eg Fuller.. not quite prem quality at the time, but going up with the right team and experience and understanding of other team members, will come good in premiership..

great signing, good to offload Tamas, shame Martin cant go too to ship some wages, COYB and Healy!!

I am feed up with all the people moaning on this web site. why not for a change get behind keane and his new signings, murphy will solve the left midfield problem and with healy upfront a proper box player who at this level will score goals for us. We need fans who get behind the team if you want to moan all the way go and support Norwich.

Up the Blues

I don't care where they've signed from as long as they do the business! Keane's just taking advantage of using his contacts (shame he hasn't used anyone at Man United yet). Healy has proven he can score goals if given the service (broke the record for world cup qualifing goals, and that's for a team that didn't qualify!). Keane wouldn't go and get these lads if he didn't think they could improve our side. I'd rather the gaffer attempt to sign someone he knows would be good enough than to take a gamble...COYB!

Come on Town, happy with the signings. Lets get this side out as much as possible and i'm sure we'll start flying up the league:

Rosenior — McAuley — Delaney — D.Wright
Walters — Norris - - Leadbitter — D.Murphy

There seems to be a lot of people moaning about moaners on here...

Let them moan. Rather they did it here than at the ground.

Not sure about Healy and Murphy. Just gonna have to be a "suck n see."
Pretty good signings CONSIDERING where we are in the league. On paper we have probably a top 3 team. Time to do it on the pitch instead of paper!!

Whilst we'd all like to see a top Premiership striker sign for the club it is simply not a realistic proposition and people seem far too quick to write off any signing before they've even been to a game and seen them kick a ball. I am personally 100% behind any player who pulls on a Town shirt as I do not believe that negativity and booing your own players achieves anything apart from giving any opposition team a boost.

I'm looking forward to seeing our new signings play and feel that we should go to games and back the team whoever pulls on a Town shirt. No one has a crystal ball and can see whether or not Healy & Murphy are the answer to turning our season around but I think that they are both very positive signings. Sitting there day dreaming about signing the Rooney like players of this world will bring you nothing but disappointment. People have been asking for Roy to sign a striker and as soon as he delivers that a lot of fans have nothing but negative comments. Why not give a new signing a chance for a change and back the team!

I know that some people will not agree with this view but I believe that in our current relegation fight what will not help us is in-fighting between the fans and negativity about players before they've even kicked a ball for us. What could help is 100% support for the manager and team from everybody as there are enough other teams & managers out there wishing to beat us without us contributing to our own downfall as well.

I too am dismayed that we are always linked with Sunderland fringe players or players that aren't right,in my opinion, for the club.

However,if Healy finds some form he could be exactly what we're missing - we need to give any signings a chance to settle in.Negativity at this early stage is just, well er,negative.

listen you lot you have got to remember a lot of these negative views are definately norwich scum trying to wind us up on this site. Some of the comments on here could not be from ipswich supporters. green eyed monster i guess!

My recallection of Healy was that he's an instinctive striker/goal poacher. Many of his goals were half chances so that must b a plus as too many of our current squad want it all lined up and then the chance is lost. I dont care if he puts he puts more shots in row z, at least he'll be trying and maybe he'll take advantage of better supply if the midfield start being more adventurous.

Would you have said that if it was Michael Owen or Kevin Phillips?
Give the guy a chance, can't be much worse than we have had up front.

lets look at Lisbie, useless at Championship level but scores for fun in league one - Healey may be the same, not quite cut it at premiership but drop a league and all of a sudden he is scoring for fun??? Look at Ewbanks-Blake, was top scorer in Championship not finding that form up a league - droping down a league can have a massive impact, hopefully thats what will happen here!! Take everyones points plus and minus, but surely overall view must be lets get behind these lads and give them a Portman Road Welome saturday!!!!
