Keane Happy With Priskin Progress Friday, 30th Jul 2010 08:38
Town boss Roy Keane says he is not concerned that striker Tamás Priskin has yet to score during pre-season. The Hungarian international missed a number of opportunities at Bury Town on Wednesday, but his manager is pleased with the former Watford man’s general play.
Keane said: ”I’m delighted with Tamás, he’s come back, he’s got a new lease of life, we’ve told him he will be given his chance and I thought he played well at Bury.
“As I said before, it was just that final ball, but that will come. You’re not going to get that after three or four weeks, particularly the attacking players because the hardest part of football is putting the ball in the back of the net.
“Aside from the one or two chances he had, his general play was very good, his link-up play, and he set up a lot of chances, and that’s what good strikers do anyway.
“I’m happy to be talking about my attacking players missing chances, the concern is when they’re not getting the chances. Come Saturday week, they’ll be ready.”
Priskin netted only twice for the Blues last season before being sent on loan to QPR in January, where he scored once. Swansea, managed by his former Watford boss Brendan Rodgers, are believed to be interested in signing the 23-year-old.

I really hope Priskin comes good - but I have my doubts. He didn't become a bad player overnight. He joins a list of players who have moved on higher transfer fees to clubs across the country, where it simply didn't work for them.
he is not a bad player, but for some reason it hasn't worker out for him here yet. i dont believe its down to keane or the way we play but something has held him back.
Glad to read lots of supportive comments for Tamas - would be nice to think that will be carried over vocally at PR this season. Strikers are hard enough on themselves when the goals aren't coming without the fans getting on their backs too...
RK's clearly "putting an arm around" him, so it would be great if the boo-boys could and follow suit!
Keane is a smart cookie, finaly he is starting to show signs that he has man-management skills (and about time too to be honest). Giving Priskin game time and good words to boost his confidence is what is needed for Tamas. The signature of Fulop will hopefully bring him out of shell further. Every one is so focused on getting a new striker. While the Keane is actively trying to sign Chops, he is also trying to get the best out of Priskin. If he signs Chops and gets Priskin playing well, it will be like two new signings!!
I agree - I think a loud and whole hearted chant of "one Tamas Priskin, there's only one Tamas Priskin" will hopefully spur him on to find the back of the net!! and show that this is a new season and we have confidence in him as well.
Its a breath of fresh air to read comments from true fans of ipswich . Perhaps Phil can start a sister site called THESE ARE THE MOANERS and keep this one clear . Up the town.
Re: the Bury highlights - great to see Town playing with some proper width and getting some dangerous crosses in! Glad Priskin seems to be getting his chance too.
Bit of a non-story really. Keane may well privately be thinking priskin is a lazy waste of space that he paid too much for, but clearly couldn't make that public. He, like us, is just hoping that something is going to click. Although I'm not sure that priskin was ever the player we needed - he's not that "putting the ball in the net" type striker, but more like Pablo, with some nice touches and skill but (apart from one good season each) never fully delivered, and too often disappears from games.
