Town Set to Complete Fülöp Move
Town Set to Complete Fülöp Move
Tuesday, 3rd Aug 2010 08:53

Town are expected to complete the signing of keeper Márton Fülöp this morning. The Hungarian international is understood to have undergone a medical yesterday with personal terms and a £750,000 fee already agreed.

The 27-year-old is not expected to play in this evening’s friendly with a Spurs XI, but is likely to be in the squad for Saturday’s opening fixture of the season at Middlesbrough.

Meanwhile, Town are reportedly one of a number of clubs interested in Leicester frontman Matty Fryatt, who is expected to leave the Walkers Stadium. The Blues, Wigan, Wolves and Hull are all said to be chasing the £1.5 million-rated striker, although Town’s number one target remains Cardiff’s Michael Chopra.

Fryatt is a great option. Chopra strikes me as overpriced and a bit flakey. If the main reason he is interested in a move to Town is RK, what happens if Keane leaves? He'll be after another move and we'll get stung having paid over the odds for him.

Chops isn't worth £3m, we've not even bid £1.5m yet, so a bid of £2m will test the water.

I think £3m would be a fair price. £4m would be over the top.

Marcus Stewart cost us £2.25m 10 years ago.

Hopefully this could be a similar signing.

Marcus Stewart was top scorer in the premiership. Chopra tryed and failed!

Good move by Keano to get in a keeper with international experience, although tough on Brian Murphy, who hasn't done much wrong. Just now it feels like we are on the edge and it could go two ways: Either (1) we get in a forward with a proven track record and maybe another defender (right back?) and/or midfielder. Priskin comes good (I still think he can in the right environment), and the whole team suddenly looks much more close-knit and lifts off to a solid start, or (2) we fail to get in a decent forward and make do with nothing or some PL cast-off; this affects team morale, Priskin doesn't respond, the supporters moan, and we put ourselves in the sh** from round 1. (Well, maybe round 2, because whatever shape we're in come Saturday, we'll do well to get a point in the opening game.) Watch this space ...!

Boltzak - Marcus Stewart was top English scorer in the Prem for Ipswich. And this was after his move, not before. So my point still stands.

Marhallsmullet Chopra has tryed and failed. Stewart was untryed.

A bargain for a class Keeper. Good business by all those involved. Lets just hope we can do the same with a striker now.

The only way we would get Chopra and Fryat is if we sell a certain 17 year old striker!

Boltzak - We are looking to buy a striker to score goals in the Championship first and foremost, and Chopra has a good record at this level.

If you are looking for a proven premiership goal scorer you are living in cloud cuckoo land my friend.

I'm getting sick of the Chopra story...plus i'll be glad to see the back of Priskin if someone's daft enough to take him off of us.

I'd keep Counago, possibly Stead & definately Wickham plus add Lambert or Austin..Fryatt's not a bad shout but he always looks a bit lazy & uninterested to me..can't be any worse than Priskin though.

Fulop hope to have you aboard .

I think 1.5m is a steal for Fryat seeing Hooper went for 2.4m but I would prefer Chopra as he has had more than one good season. And I'm not sure if Fryat could turn to be a Lisbie or Priskin. Good untill they come to us.

ME could afford to buy both Chopra and Fryatt if he wanted to without selling any players to raise funds. I think he is more concerned about the overall wage bill and since two players have left we are now seeing some movement into the club.
If we could get rid of Stead or Pablo it would free up wages for anothe striker to come in.
