Fülöp Out for Repeat of 1953
Fülöp Out for Repeat of 1953

New Town signing Márton Fülöp says he’d take a repeat of Hungary’s famous 1953 6-3 victory over England when the teams meet again at Wembley this evening. Fülöp and Town team-mate Tamás Priskin are likely to be involved for the Hungarians.

The 27-year-old says he wouldn’t be too worried about conceding three goals if his side could reprise that famous win, the first against England on home soil by any nation from outside the British Isles: “I would take that result!”

Fülöp, who has been capped 21 times by his country, says he can’t wait to play at Wembley: “It will be great, I’m looking forward to that game. Wembley is a new stadium, probably the best stadium in the world, and it’s great to play England. Hopefully we can get a good result."

Priskin, who has scored seven goals in 26 games for his country, is less likely to start than Fülöp, particularly as he has been suffering with a swollen ankle since the weekend.

Town’s other senior call-up, defender Gareth McAuley, was withdrawn from the Northern Ireland squad playing in Montenegro earlier in the week due to a back injury. The former Leicester and Lincoln man is likely to be back for Saturday’s home game against Burnley.

Part of me hopes that Hungary dominate today because even though I think Capello is a very good manager I think he needs to get rid of some "fan Favourites" to make the team successful in the Euros

would like to see a lot of goals from both side but that will not happen, Hungary have got Priskin up front not much danger there and he wont get much help either. England will win with ease. But when have we said that before

Lets hope Priskin can play the role of Nandor Hidegkuti then, and bag a hat-trick!! I'd settle for an impression of Ferenc Puskas though!
