Wigan Accept Town Bid for Scotland
Wednesday, 11th Aug 2010 16:30

Wigan Athletic are reported to have accepted a Town bid for striker Jason Scotland. News of the Blues’ interest in the Trinidad and Tobago international first broke on TWTD at the end of last week.

Town are understood to have offered £750,000 for the ex-Swansea frontman, who is an international team-mate of midfielder Carlos Edwards and former loanee Stern John. The player is now believed to be in discussions regarding personal terms.

On Monday Latics boss Roberto Martinez confirmed the Blues’ interest in the 31-year-old frontman.

Yay! A new news story today, lol.

Seriously, this would be a good signing if it comes off. Would still want to keep Stead though.

COYB!

Good player, good price, good deal if it can be completed, especially by Saturday :)

Brilliant News !!
Now its over to Mr Evans and Clegg to get this deal buttoned up before Saturday!!
He is a PROVEN championship striker and although he has had a rough time up in the Premier League, you don't just lose the ability to score over night! I'm sure with Keano showing faith in him it'll give him confidence and hopefully re-ignite his goalscoring form that we saw when he was with Swansea!!

good striker at this level with regular first team football, and also he had a song in the carribean top 40 along with heskey and his brother in a band ;) we need some of those vocals in the north ;)

Good line up if we can get McCormack aswell, would look alot like this

Fulop
Peters McAuley Smith Kennedy
Hyam
Norris Leadbitter
Walters McCormanck
Scotland

that ^ is definetly a top 6 team, come on you blues!

Ahhh, the dreaded personal terms.

Hopefully everything will get sorted without a hitch. Should be a good player for us.

Excellent news, just hope its not another one that bites the dust because of 'failing to agree personal terms'

i really hope he will be prepared to take a drop in wages to get a first team place consistantly. I guess its down to enjoying the football or a fat wage packet!

Dont know about this signing, hes low in confidence after a poor season, hes the wrong side of 30 and hes not a long term solution. I know hes proven at this level, but at 31 and low in confidence is he any better than Stead? I would keep Stead and see what hes like with a run of games before splashing the cash for Scotland.

Is Jason Scotland worth the money?....... i hope RK knows what he's doing as he has wasted too much money last season buying average/below-average players....

I reckon he'll do us for a season, maybe two. He obviously doesn't cut the mustard in the Premier, poor goals per game record in internationals (but probably not too many chances came his way for Trinidad & Tobago!), however hope he can reproduce his excellent record for Swansea at ITFC.

I hope Keane gives him a long look in the eye and works out if he's hungry. If he's got something to prove he could be a fantastic signing; if he's just looking for one last contract, he could become a useless burden. Price isn't too bad (and better than the nonsense bids for Chopra).

"Sky Sources understand Cardiff striker Ross McCormack has held talks with Ipswich manager Roy Keane over a possible move" if we are talking to Ross does that mean a fee has been agreed and its down to personal terms? im not sure how it works!

So were paying him high wages and a high transfer fee for two seasons maybe one! I think hell be another flop and a waste of money IMO.

This could be a great signing. Looks like Martinez couldn't drum up the extra interest (= extra money) after all!

MCcormack Scotland Wickham

great forward line ... but then we will have walters and priskin , and we cant drop priskin as would be harsh on him tbh ..

Hate to be something of a downer on the movements finally taking place, but in the season where both McCormack and Scotland scored 20+ goals, a considerably large proportion of these were penalties. This isn't indicative of the poacher/finisher that we need!

Looking at some of the negative comments I really am not sure what so called supporters are after.

We are currently an average championship side, who are looking to push on this season. I really am not sure who some of you clowns think we can sign and where from

McCormack and Scotland if the rumours are true will be cracking signing for us and will most certainly aid Wickhams progress

People have been crying out for Keane to get players in as we are short. He is now attempting to do that and people are still not happy

Absolutely pathetic!

It looks like Scotland is stead's replacement and McCormack is Walters replacement (striker/winger) the left over money from Walters sale will go towards a rb or cb? That's the way I see it anyway. Looking more and more positive, Scotland will be a v good addition at this level. With these two possible signings on board and maybe more we may be shifting from an average championship team to a decent one. Always had faith in you keano!

£750k is a bargain...hope it happens though i'd be more than happy to keep Stead.

@floridaboy

I have to agree with what your saying!

Although in the majority of us town fans' defence i think Keano has got a lot more support this year than he did have toward the end of last season!

He's finally been able to clear out the "deadwood" players who were just turning up and taking a wage (with the exception of Pablo who is still here). He's clearly been working hard in the pre-season with them and he's not afraid to blood the youngsters which is potentially fantastic news for the clubs future!

So can everyone please get behind the blues ... starting this Saturday
