Town Sign Andros Townsend on Loan

Town have signed Tottenham left midfielder Andros Townsend on a season-long loan. TWTD first revealed the Blues' interest in the 19-year-old back in May.

Boss Roy Keane said: "He's a lad with a lot of potential. We've had good reports on him and we are delighted to have him here."

The Blues sent a representative to watch the quick winger in action in a friendly against Chelsea at Tottenham’s training ground on Wednesday. The game had been arranged to show off the clubs’ young talent to sides interested in taking their players on loan.

Townsend, who played in all three of Tottenham's games on their pre-season tour of the USA, came through the Spurs academy and went on loan to Yeovil Town at the end of the 2008/09 season, scoring one goal in 10 starts.

The 6ft tall midfielder spent the first half of last season at Leyton Orient, where former Blue Geraint Williams was then boss, netting two goals in 20 starts and six appearances.

In January the England U16 and U19 international moved on to the MK Dons, where he made eight starts and one sub appearance, scoring twice.

I would like a formal consensus done on Non Moaning, based on the possibility of the new signings that everyone is raving for, not working out. The new strikers will be the highest paid at the club. They may not work out. Get over it before it actually happens and spare us your melodrama. Cheers.

A player who likes to run at defenders and score, gotta be a good thing. This is turning into Keano's Creche and personally i would rather see young triyers than cant be bothered has beens / never was. And yes, as has been noted, it may take the lad a while to settle just as it did Colback.

Well said Brogansnose, youngsters can only improve and are for a future team. Older players that have peaked will only become worse although Keano is right about having a good mix of both.

Andros looks like a good addition to our team more youth and pace more attacking options for Keane more hunger and relating to a previous point posted this is a big move for Andros, if he helps ignite (on the pitch) a tinder box looking Ipswich team which will be feared amongst the Championship because of our pace and power (Scotland included) it will no doubt increase his reputation and career but he is only a loanee 8(
