O'Dea Had No Hesitation

New loan signing Darren O’Dea says he that once he knew of Town’s interest in him he had no hesitation in making the move to Portman Road. The Irish international has joined the Blues from Celtic until January.

The 23-year-old said: “Once I knew of the interest it was just a matter of getting it done. My main aim is to get in the squad for Saturday and any chance I get from there I’ll take. My full focus is on helping this team up the league.”

O’Dea, who spent time with Reading last season, says he will be out to show Town what he can do in the next few months: “At Reading I wanted to do that with a return to Celtic in mind. Now my aim is to as well as I can at Ipswich and let other teams take care of themselves.

“There have been massive changes at Celtic with the manager bringing in a number of players who I would expect him to favour to play. I’m hungry and I want to play every week and the only club I want to impress is Ipswich.”

Welcome Darren - a good attitutude by the sounds of it and somone who wants to wear the town shirt! Ironic isnt it he struggles to get into the Celtic team yet is a full Irish international, and we have just sold a player for 2.75m who cant even make the first Irish team :-) Come on Clegg now for the Striker(s), lets be 'avin ya' - i'd love you to prove me wrong and that you really are much more than an overpaid yupiee with absolutely no idea about football and a pen that seems to have run out of ink.......

@Hugoagogo

Well thats what my post was depending on....as in if Keane has decided that Smith isn't up to the challenge then i'd be more than happy to have o'dea take his place if there is a good chance of us signing him for good come January.

Er...didn't we try and loan him last season as well? Fairly sure we did so how did he end up at Reading if there wasn't a moments hesitation!? Either way, you're behind Tommy in the pecking order for me at the moment.

Lots of new signings say these things. Last year it was Liam Rossiner (bad spelling)
