Lambe Set for Bermuda Action
Lambe Set for Bermuda Action
Friday, 15th Oct 2010 10:00

Midfielder Reggie Lambe will be away with the Bermuda squad next week for their U20 World Cup qualifiers in Guadeloupe against the hosts and Antigua and Barbuda. Lambe, 19, has previously won nine full caps, scoring four goals, in addition to games at U23 and U20 levels.

Boss Roy Keane has no problem with his players going away with their countries: “Young Reggie is away next week for U20 internationals. It’s really good for some of these boys to go away, particularly when, like Connor Wickham, they get 90 minutes under their belt.”

Bermuda U20s coach Gary Darrell says the Blues winger will have an integral role to play for his side: "Reggie's a full-time pro, he'll be key for us. He has plenty of international experience having been part of the senior team which competed in the Digicel Cup two years ago. We will play him in the position where we feel he will be most influential."

Lambe will join up with the squad in Florida ahead of the match against Guadeloupe on Wednesday and then Antigua and Barbuda on Friday. Haiti were also supposed to compete in the group but have withdrawn from the competition.

The winner of the group goes through to the CONCACAF U20 Championship in Guatemala in April, while the group runners—up go through to the second group phase of qualifying.

Lambe has started two of Town’s Carling Cup ties this season in addition to two league appearances from the bench.
